Receiving Google Adsense payments via Western Union

Today I successfully received my first Google Adsense earnings sent via the Western Union Quick Cash option.

Here’s a guide on How to receive Adsense payments via Western Union, but read on to find out my own experience with this new withdrawal method.

First, what I did was search for a Western Union (WU) agent closest to my place using the Global Payment Solutions website. After making a search, I decided to pick up my Adsense payment from Sanry’s Foreign Exchange at the Glorietta Mall in Makati.

I went to Sanry’s and told the staff manning the counter that I am picking up a Quick Cash payment from Google.

He gave me a Western Union “To Receive Money” form and asked me to completely fill it out. This is where the Payment Details from Google becomes necessary. The form asked for the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN), exact Payment Amount, Name and Address of the Sender, and a few personal details, among others.

How to receive Adsense earnings via Western Union

We reported a few weeks ago that starting November 2007, Google Adsense publishers can receive their earnings through the Western Union Quick Cash option.

This week I will try to encash my Adsense earnings using Western Union (WU) and will report my experience here.

Here’s a guide for those opting to use the WU payout method.

How to pick up a Western Union Quick Cash payment

1. Locate a Western Union agent that offers the Quick Cash service from the site .

2. Prepare the following before visiting the WU branch.

  • The amount of your payment
  • The Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) for this payment
  • Your government issued ID (Passport, Driver’s License, TIN ID, SSS ID, etc)
  • Sender’s information:

Google Inc.
1600 Amphitheatre Parkway
Mountain View, CA 94043
USA

The payment amount and MTCN can be found by clicking on the ‘details’ link next to the Payment Issued line on My Account > Payment History in your Google Adsense account (see screenshot).

3. Go to the WU agent, show them the information in #2, and inform them you would like to pick up a Quick Cash payment.

Online tracking of Adsense checks sent via DHL

Despite the $24 processing fee, using Secured Express Delivery to receive Google Adsense checks appears to be a better option than the Standard Delivery payment.

Aside from a shorter waiting period — 1 week vs. Standard Delivery’s 2-3 weeks — with Secured Express Delivery, Adsense publishers are assured the check will arrive at their doorsteps. Especially in the Philippines where incidences of stolen Adsense checks are prevalent, site publishers should opt for checks to be sent via DHL, lest they want to risk not receiving their checks at all.

Recently, Google Adsense implemented another payment method via Western Union Quick Cash. But if this option is not offered in your country or if you still prefer to receive Secured Express Delivery checks via DHL, here is how you can track your Adsense checks real-time.

$23 earnings from Adsense Referrals in 1 day? Not bad!

A few minutes ago, I logged in to my Google Adsense account to check my earnings for the day and was surprised to see that my 1-day income from Referrals alone was $23! I'm not talking about earnings from Contextual Ads or Search, but from those little Adsense ads that direct users to try certain products or services.

In late June this year, Adsense launched Referrals 2.0, aptly versioned such to signify big improvements from the previous Referrals program where users got to try only a few, mostly Google-related products. With Referrals 2.0, publishers can now refer their visitors to products or services that fit the context of their site. They can also choose to show other offers and deals from a wide variety of categories, ranging from Computers & Electronics to Sports to Home & Garden. The good thing about the Adsense Referrals program is that site publishers can explicitly endorse the ads (read: they can tell visitors to click on the ads), unlike in Adsense Contextual ads.

Going back to my Referrals income yesterday, I checked and discovered that the $23 came from only 4 clicks on Referral ads on the site. The Referral product that produced most of the earnings was a Finance-related product, which bodes well with the theme of this site. Certainly, $23 is huge as 1-day earnings from Referrals alone, notwithstanding the fact that I get to earn only $1.00++ per day from Referrals on the average.

Adsense starts offering 1-day Western Union payments

Since last year, we’ve been hearing stories about Google Adsense publishers in other countries being able to receive payouts via Western Union in just a matter of days. Philippine-based publishers, meanwhile, have to wait 1 to 3 weeks before their Google Adsense check will arrive.

That is, until today.
