How to receive Google Adsense payments via Western Union

We reported a few weeks ago that starting November 2007, Google Adsense publishers can receive their earnings through the Western Union Quick Cash option.

This week I will try to encash my Adsense earnings using Western Union (WU) and will report my experience here.

Here’s a guide for those opting to use the WU payout method.

How to pick up a Western Union Quick Cash payment

1. Locate a Western Union agent that offers the Quick Cash service from the site http://www.payment-solutions.com/agent.asp.

2. Prepare the following before visiting the WU branch.

  • The amount of your payment
  • The Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) for this payment
  • Your government issued ID (Passport, Driver’s License, TIN ID, SSS ID, etc)
  • Sender’s information:
      Google Inc.
      1600 Amphitheatre Parkway
      Mountain View, CA 94043
      USA

The payment amount and MTCN can be found by clicking on the ‘details’ link next to the Payment Issued line on My Account > Payment History in your Google Adsense account (see screenshot).

Getting paid through Western Union Quick Cash.

3. Go to the WU agent, show them the information in #2, and inform them you would like to pick up a Quick Cash payment.

A few notes:

* These ads open in a new window. *

  • You need to tell WU you are picking up a Quick Cash payment
  • You need to pickup the payment within 35 days or it will be credited back to your account
  • Don’t forget to bring a valid government issued ID, the sender’s information, payment amount, and MTCN
  • Payments can be made in US Dollars but you have the option to receive it in your local currency. Conversion rates depend on the rate used by WU on the pickup date

The Western Union Quick Cash method surely is a better alternative to Adsense’s Secured Express Delivery Checks because the former is FREE of charge (as opposed to Secured Checks’ $24 processing fee) and is available just one day after payment date (vs. Secured Checks’ 1-week lead time).

Yup, I was referring to the PIN mailer which you need to get in order to receive the earnings from Google.

It does suck if you still don’t have the PIN, because after the 4th month of issue and you still have not entered it, your ads will only be getting Public Service ads. Also you only have 6 months to enter the PIN or your earnings will be refunded back to advertisers.

My suggestion is to try contacting Google to confirm when and from where the PIN mailer was actually sent. Here you are trying to isolate the problem and see if the problem lies with the Philippine postal system.

If the problem is indeed with the postal system (well, what’s new?), explain to Google the situation and ask them if you have alternatives.

Can the PIN mailer be sent to a new address? Can it be sent via DHL? Or can you just open a new Google account, transfer your earnings to that account then request a new PIN mailer (this method is meant to give you more time so that your PIN won’t expire)?

You might also want to visit the postal office near you to inquire if they received the mail from Google. This is where the info from Google can help (when and from where was it sent? Does Google have a record that it was indeed received by the Philippine postal office?)

Honestly I don’t think there’s a lot you can do because, in the first place, the problem does not lie with you.

Good luck. Hope you can get your PIN asap.

@James, I think he is asking about the PIN used to verify the address since I have the same problem. I am also on the third re-issue of PIN already.
