I went to their bank just today to buy into their China basket dollar principal guaranteed structured investment. 10.5% per annum, 1.5 years term. I think they release new investment funds every month. They are also advising me to buy the high conviction equity fund of ING. This is actually counter what my agent in ING recommends, who wants to wait and see first, before deciding where to invest... HSBC actually makes investing easier for you cuz they're like a one-stop shop, me credit card pa! ... I like HSBC Premier because they have many other investments to choose from. Pero, depends also on my liquidity and risk appetite at that time. Hope this helps!

please don't get me wrong. HSBC Premier is a convenient way to BUY investments, but not necessarily to get ADVICE what funds to buy. You still need to make your due diligence as to what fund to buy(Philam, Sunlife, or ING equity or bond funds). I find it so troubling that these expert fund managers get 'surprised', or 'confused', or 'unsure' why the local market will 'go against the fundamentals', etc etc. What I buy in HSBC are those that are principal-guaranteed structured notes, kaya medyo safe.

Richpulubi, How can I become a premier member of HSBC. What is the minimum amount to open an account in HSBCPremier?

4M ba? Wow, the agent I am dealing with kasi just texted me if I wanted to invest. She used to be with Citibank(which I have some money in) tapos, na-pirate ng HSBC Premier. She was tapping her suki clients from Citibank. I considered it a good investment, so I bought...much less than 4M. Honestly, I'm new in this bank, but so far, they haven't said anything about a minimum of 4M. So from today, iiwasan ko muna yung mga tawag niya!(joke lang). As to their other offerings, I still would prefer getting info from my own research, over their recommendations.

Anyway, RigBoy, you can check out ING funds at www.ingim.com.ph.

@richpulubi - as of my last checking ING's equity fund still outperforms their High Conviction Fund and given the higher risk of their High Conviction Fund I think you'd be better off investing on their equity fund (IMHO lang po - please correct me if I'm wrong).  If I am not mistaken the High Conviction Fund hold more "Basura Stocks" as compared to the more "Blue Chip" stocks that their equity fund has.

the.oracle, you're right about the fund performances. I think the recommendation is because the HCF is at a super ultra low. Of course, it could still go to a super duper ultra ULTRA low.

If you guys are into the genuine peso cost averaging, believe it or not, you need to look for a fund that has the largest swings of NAV. And be strict about buying with the same amount, at the same day in a month. So you have an equal chance of buying super low(with a lot of shares) or ultra high(with very few shares). Maybe the HCF is ideal for this, because the NAV of basura stocks tend to swing tremendously. What are your thoughts?

nailbiter, actually, I wasn't a client when it was offered to me. A former Citibank employee that I know just texted me that she now works for HSBC Premier, and offered this particular product to entice me to open an account with them.

Is it advantageous to be in HSBC premier than in CITIBANK GOLD? Minimum account of both banks is 4M. What is the difference ba? If I choose to transfer my account to HSBC premier?

Hey HITMAN, HSBC Premier can sell ING, Philam and Sunlife mutual funds. They also offer structured notes, corporate and treasury bills and bonds(ROP's). They supposedly makes banking easier, no matter what country you are in. They also offer a whole slew of credit cards.

Are these the same things that Citibank Gold offers or are there more?

Citibank has the same products.  Experience ko lang nga with Citibank is that you can have easy access opening offshore accounts in any country you want.  Tapos they have a relationship officer counterpart in the offshore country of your choice for your to talk to and invest in.  I was surprised that they offered me opening offshore accounts kasi Citibank Philippines will not benefit from it.  They just gave me a better way to diversify my portfolio.  I just don't know if HSBC will help you opening offshore accounts.

HSBC also helps you open offshore accounts. Same as citibank gold.  Nailbiter, I don't think the China basket/other products are available, but I'm not quite sure. As far as I know, these are 'offshore' products being offered by HSBC Singapore, etc...

question lang ng isang newbie... bakit gusto natin mag-open ng hsbc premier account? eh check ko now lang 3.26% lang ang net or 4.07 paggross pag less that 5m? mantalang ang HSBC cash ISA pede sali ng less than 1.5m gross eh 5.37% at pag morethan 1.5m eh 5.84% at tax free pa.
ano ba advantage ng premier account?

You enjoy special perks / privileges when you are a hsbc premier or citigold customer.  For example they charge less commissions on investments, you will be informed whenever they have new products, and so on.
