Hi guys, interested in investing in one of the three, but am not sure which would be most suited for me. I am 21 and am looking to invest for the medium-long term, and am willing to go aggressive.

1. BPI Index Fund - Seems relatively safe and stable, beats most MFs (since most MFs don't beat the PSEi)

2. BDO UITF - one of the best performing UITFs right now, can beat PSEi, but am worried how long it can sustain its good performance

3. Philam MF - often bundled with insurance coverage of 10-25x of your invested amount, however, when looking at its returns, it severely underperforms compared to BPI/BDO

Would appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks! :D

Hi,

First and Foremost, I think you really need to think first what are your objectives for investing.. and please be specific.
second, please identify what do you mean by aggressive... because for me, going for all these you mentioned is not aggressive enough. go to stock trading if you are really aggressive. that aside, please identify honestly, what do you mean by 'going aggressive'

lastly, please try to ask the relevant questions with regard to the products you mentioned. PLEASE BE NOT BE FOOLED BY WORDS SUCH AS 'kikita ka dito using peso cost averaging' without understanding how that will really work to your advantage.

amongst the three, I WOULD suggest you going for none at all! mag insurance ka na lang with an investment arm rather than go this route.

but if you will insist on choosing among these three, please ask the following question --

1. paano ka kikita ng tunay na pera sa mga investment product na ito? kelangan ka ba magbenta para lang kumita ka o kahit hindi ka magbenta at bumili ka lang ng bumili ay kikita ka pa din?
2. kung Mutual Fund ba yan, nagbibigay ba sila ng stock dividend at the end of fiscal year or calendar year o hindi?
3.yung custodian fees ba na iyan (for UITFS and other bank products) at management fees (for mutual funds) ay binabawas sa iyo taon taon kahit na wala kang binenta o kapag may activity or action ka lang?

lastly,

4. ano connection ng performance ng isang investment product sa kikitain mo?

note: hindi masama kunin ang mga investment product na ito, as I have one as well, pero kung hindi mo alam pano gamitin sa advantage mo ang mga ito, sinasayang mo lang ang pera mo sa paginvest sa kanila. kasi sila lang ang makikinabang at ikaw, lagay lang ng lagay... note ulit... last na... hindi nagbibigay ng dividends ang mga mutual fund companies kaya wag ka na umasa na tataas ang pera mo sa mga yan by just sitting ang giving money monthly to them... waste of money yan...

so there you go! AGAIN!! hindi masama na may MF, or UITF ka pero kung hindi mo alam pano gamitin to your advantage ang mga ito... you are just wasting money my friend.

What do you mean by saying gamitin to your advantage? Medyo naiintriga ako e :applause:

Can you explain pls?

@pvc, mind answering the 4 questions you raised based on your experience?

Such a sweeping staatement!!! Di nagbibigay ng dividend kaya di tataas and just a waste of money? You sure what youre talking about bro?

And ya, what do you mean by gamitin to your advantage?

Of the hundreds of persons I know who invested in mutual funds a long time ago, I havent heard anyone say that   :harhar: all of them are very happy that they invested in mutual funds and they are able to see how they are making money through the years.

Feeling ko nainvest si sir nung peak tapos bumaba kaya ayun galit?  :cool2: JK :p

I have all three.  :D
All three are good, but now I'm only adding to the BPI Index Fund.

In my case, nagbigay ng stock dividends ang Sunlife sa mutual fund product na kinuha ko since 13 plus years ago.

The performance of sunlife was really good.
