I just found out the cheapest way to send money to New Zealand is to send through the bank.

Depending on the bank, some charges 14 dollars some 18 dollars US. no matter the amount. You must have an existing account with the bank though.

Well I just check another sevice that allows you to send money online, called FundFone. I think their costs are $19.95 to send one hundred dollars instantly, which actually land in the users bank account.

Just thought I'd jump in as I'm based in Melbourne, Australia and had a bank transfer done from BPI in the Philippines to NAB (Australian bank). Bank transfers are NOT the most cost-effective way to transfer. There are other losses incurred through this method aside from the 'cheap' flat rate you see posted in their websites. If you request for the bank wire transcript after the bank transfer is done, you will see that there will be intermediary banks that charge fees on top of the bank's fees. For example BPI, when asked, can't even confirm what intermediary will get in between the transfer and how much will be deducted. You will only see this AFTER the bank the transfer is done and ONLY IF you ask for the bank wire transcript. In addition to these, the spread of the bank (difference between buying price and selling price of the currency to exchange to) is not the best rate you will get. When I transferred PHP from BPI to be converted during transfer to AUD to an Australian bank, I found the exchange rate less than ideal. I won't tell you exactly how much I lost in PHP during the transfer but it's something like paying for a plane ticket itself.

I'm currently still looking for an alternative better way to transfer money to Australia and there are a few that I've found but have not found reviews yet. One is Peramax and the other is Nitibo. Their cross rates are much much closer to inter-bank rates and I'll post here once I find reviews or have tried them out.

Thanks for the info very helpful. I was thinking of doing wire transfer as the best and last option to send money from PH to abroad. Pa-update po..I will be needing this soon.

I've used Transferwise to send money from Canada to the Philippines. You can also use it to send money to New Zealand. The fee is cheaper than bank transfer and have high exchange rate. All my transfer were received for less than C$5.00 (the minimum fee).
