I am looking to see what people recommend most. I don't know my credit score, I assume its average. I do travel, though not too much. I am more looking for low fees and such, plus any bonuses possible. I just want to use it to help- transfer payments between paychecks. Example: say I need to buy gas for 5 days, but I am out of money due to bills and wont have any till my paycheck in 5 days. I want to use the credit card for the gas, then when paycheck rolls around I pay it off. Any suggestions?

i'm positive that you mean sinusuyo ka ng mga "manufacturer/supplier sponsors" mo
dahil alangan naman na yung employer mo ang nanunuyo sa iyo
hindi ba bribery yan?
or at the very least conflict of interest?
and in any case (and i hate to say this)... unethical?  :dont:

credit card would not be the solution to your problem...

it will magnify the problem later...

I've been looking into credit cards. What one do you think is best? Which one has the lowest interest rates? What do you use? I've been researching for awhile and i just want some honest opinions.  :thankyou:

^^^ it depends on your intended use

if it will be will be limited (like xanthia), and you intend to pay off the balance every month
then any card that has no annual membership fee would be sufficient

now, while i agree with mlangseth  and ric that cash is king, one can take advantage of programs that credit cards offer, especially if you have the cash to begin with

instead of paying with cash (that i have), i use my credit card as much as possible
every month on the average, i charge between $5K to $6K on my credit card
and every month, i pay off the balance
the finance charge/interest rate charged by the issuer (in my case citibank) doesn't matter
since i pay in full every month, i don't pay any finance charge
for my purchases, i accumulate mileage
and i charge enough (between $60K to $72K) that i earn enough mileage
for a RT economy ticket from the US to the philippines, for example.
depending on the time of the year, that economy RT ticket costs between $900 to $1300
so you see, it pays to use a credit card  :D

i also have an emerican express card that i use with costco
i charge several hundred $$$ a month for gas, bottled water, soda, napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, detergent, fruits, meat, seafood, etc.
i also pay the card balance in full every month; hence, no finance charges, nor do i pay an annual membership fee on the card.
the card gives a 2% rebate on purchases; 3% rebate on gasoline purchases
i purchase enough to get a rebate check (that is used towards more costco purchases) of several hundred dollars at year's end
folks, that's all free "money" just for using the card that's not costing me anything to begin with!

a word of unsolicited advice: do not use a credit card if you will maintain some balance; the finance charges will cost you. do not fall back on the credit card for emergencies; the finance charges on the remaining balance will cost you. start saving money for emergencies instead. do not use your credit card for cash advances. there is normally a fee for cash advances, plus the finance charges start on the day you take out the cash advance; therefore, even if you pay off the balance when you receive the bill, you would have already incurred costs.

Best credit card?  Look for a credit card that does not have an annual fee or lesser AF, low Annual Percentage Rate, higher earn rate for rewards/rebates, good customer service.  You will not find it here in the Philippines.  Major credit card issuers here offer an average 3.5 monthly rate- 42% annually.  Better stick to the good old days- use cash! :hihi:

try no eastwest credit card madaling maapprove...u can get 50% cash advance of your credit limit compare to other credit cards na 30% lng... sa mastercard nila mababa lng ang annual fee at finance charge compre to others na 3.5.

Sorry, I just have to comment on this thread although it has been long dead.

Nakakatawa lang yung mga nagcocomment dito na wala naman naitulong. "Walang best credit card, cash is king, you don't need a credit card etc., etc." Wow, ang daming sumagot na walang relevance sa tanong. May isa pang nag-comment para makapag-yabang lang. "Memasa"?

Didn't anyone tell you that it's forum ethics to keep quiet if you don't have anything useful to say?

Anyway, to answer the topic starter's question, since you are only planning to have a credit card for backup, any credit card with low annual fees and good customer service will do. In the Philippines, BPI and HSBC are among the best ones in those departments.

I use a Citibank shell visa card for my gasoline because you can get 5% rebates using it on any shell gasoline station. I also use Citibank cash back for my groceries it also give some rebates and some times I use standard charted card they got a lot of promos like free coffee.
