Win $20,000 in ASEAN songwriting contest

Attention budding composers and song writers! Here’s your chance to make a global impact while enjoying, at the same time, cash amounting to $20,000 or around Php 900,000.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN is conducting a region-wide competition to select a composition as the ASEAN anthem for the 14th ASEAN Summit to be held on December 2008 in Thailand.

All citizens of any ASEAN member-state (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) are eligible to join. Entries must be recorded on CD and submitted together with a score and sheet music.

The song must be an original composition, in English, not more than one minute in length, and should reflect the region’s “cooperation, solidarity, and ASEAN’s diverse culture and religion.”

The winning composition will receive US$20,000.

Entries are due on September 20.

In the Philippines, entries can be submitted to:

The ASEAN Philippine National Secretariat

Department of Foreign Affairs
8th floor, DFA Building, 2330 Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City
Tel. No. 834-4152/3164 ; Fax No. 832-1667
