RegisterFly.com is so f*cked up

Pardon the language but, yes, RegisterFly.com now is so f*cked up .

First, the embattled registrar’s accreditation has been terminated and second, RegisterFly.com’s site has been defaced apparently by one of its disgruntled employees.

Registration Agreement terminated

The latest development in the RegisterFly.com fiasco is that the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers or ICANN — the organization tasked with managing the assignment of domain names and IP addresses, among others — has finally terminated RegisterFly’s Registration Accreditation Agreement (RAA).

What this means is that RegisterFly will cease to become an accredited registrar of ICANN. The implications, according to ICANN’s March 16 announcement:

Between now and 31 March RegisterFly is required to unlock and provide all necessary Authinfo codes to allow domain name transfers to occur. Any and all registrants wishing to transfer away from RegisterFly during this period should be allowed to do so efficiently and expeditiously.

When the Agreement is terminated, ICANN can approve a bulk transfer of all current RegisterFly domain names to another ICANN accredited Registrar. (emphasis ours)

RegisterFly.com defaced

The second bug (pun intended) to hit RegisterFly is the defacement of its official site apparently by an employee who got “f*cked up” by all this RegisterFly mess. On March 18, the site RegisterFly.com appeared like this:

Edited 3/19: There’s another screenshot posted in the gripe site RegisterFlies.com showing RegisterFly.com defaced again, this time supposedly by hackers:

The (verbatim) message:

Yes Indeed, RegisterFly’s Security HAS been breached, we are helping RegisterFly’s VICTIMS to Regain control of THEIR Legally Owned domain names. KEVIN MEDINA! Don’t try anything stupid, we have VERY sensitive data about you, and we are ready to publish it anytime soon, blackmail may be your first though, but it is victory for your victims. With all our love, The RegisterFly’s Hackers.

The messages have since been removed from the site.
