‘Sex pervs’ download, watch Katrina Halili, Maricar Reyes sex video

We are a nation of sex perverts.
That’s how my friend described the current frenzy in the Philippines over the sex videos of Katrina Halili, Hayden Kho, Maricar Reyes, that Brazilian model, and yes even Dr. Vicki Belo.
Millions of Filipinos are Googling and searching the net how they can download and watch the (in)famous sex scandal videos.
The same friend told me how everyone in their office — a large investment bank, to boot! — watched the videos, as if it’s a group bonding activity.
Another friend shared that his boss, half-serious, half-joking, offered to burn everyone in the office a CD copy of the sex video — for P50.
They’re not the only ones interested. Google’s search-trending site, Google.com/trends, shows millions of Filipinos these days are searching for these videos.
Searching the Videos
In the past weeks, there was a spike in Google searches for the terms Katrina Halili, Hayden Kho, and Maricar Reyes, as seen in the graph.
The search terms became a big hit particularly in May and June 2009 when news that there were sex videos. People started to search online to watch and download the Hayden Kho sex videos.
Who’s Searching?
Where are these perverts — err, searches — coming from? Based on the search term “Katrina Halili,” most searches are conducted from the following sub-regions: Misamis Oriental, Manila and Cebu.
The cities interested in the scandal, ranked based on the number of searches made, are: Cagayan de Oro, Quezon City, Makati, Cebu and Manila.
There’s no stopping Filipinos from further searching to download and watch the videos. And who says the issue will die down that easily?
Not when you have more and more politicians joining the sex scandal commotion. Surely we’ll see more of them now, especially since the erection — I mean, the election — is just a year away.
