I'm also wondering what is this 9-digit bank code.

My bank is Banco de Oro. What is the 9-digit bank code of Banco de Oro? Anyone knows?

Also, what will I put in the Bank name field? Is it BDO Universal Bank, Banco de Oro, Banco de Oro Equitable PCI Bank, or what?  Help

An excerpt fro Wikipedia:
A Bank Code is a code assigned by a central bank, a Bank Supervisory Body or a Bankers Association in a country assigned to all its licensed member banks. The rules vary to great extent between the countries. Also the name of such a code varies. In some countries the bank codes can be viewed over the internet, but mostly in the local language.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_code

Here's a list of Bank Codes from a blog that I found:
http://naijapinoy.wordpress.com/2008/01/24/philippine-banking-swift-code/

I haven't tried it yet though. I've tried transferring money to my UnionBank card before and as far as I know the bank code is UBPHMM but PayPal is asking for 9 digits though. Has anyone tried yet? What's the limit?

Are bank codes specific to the bank branch or to the bank name? What is the bank code for Chinabank?

The Bank Code is the same as the Routing Number or the ABA Number. I've already collected some of the Bank Codes. Post here or in the article below if you have additional info regarding the bank codes.

@ futuregizmo, may question lang po about that.

kasi sa US bank accounts, yung bank routing # nila usually varies according to the branch. the 9 digit routing # for US banks are also found in their checks, and it determines the bank and branch (i know this from my previous job ;p). i just want to clarify this kasi you mentioned the bank code is the same as the routing #, and i don't know if it's different from the US... i tried to google this information kaya lang wala pa akong nakikitang sagot dito..

----------

i know the routing number i have for chinabank is 020100113 but i don't know if this is the universal for all branches kasi i'm not sure if this is the same as the bank code... can anyone else who has a chinabank checking account (non-cebu) find out if you have the same number? you'll find this at the top right part of the check (R/T no.).

thanks!

Wow, first time I'm not on top of PayPal matters. Salamat talaga FG. Labs talaga kita.  Grin

BTW, pwede naman kahit anong bank account di ba? Pwede kahit hindi checking account?

Oh yeah also want to ask what anghelita did. Is the bank code universal and not restricted to branches?

FutureGizmo, is the Routing Number and Bank Code the same? I have Banco de Oro account but I have no checks. But I do have somebody's Banco de Oro check. On the top right, it says "R/T"  =  01053116-1

However, a question, do all BDO checks have the same routing number?

Fyi lang, I have a Metrobank check here but the RT No. isn't the same as the bank code FutureGizmo published on the blog so that's probably not it.

Paulit na rin nung isang tanong ni anghelita:

Pa-clarify din po kasi sabi sa site ng ABA (American Bankers Association), specific lang yon sa US banks:

Quote
An ABA Routing Number will only be issued to a Federal or State chartered financial institution which is eligible to maintain an account at a Federal Reserve Bank.

Those bank codes I got from Metrobank, Citibank, BPI and DBP, I confirmed with their Support Hotlines and confirmed that there's only one Routing Number for the entire bank.
