Top Blogs in the Philippines – 2009

Finally, we bring you our listing of the Top 50 Blogs in the Philippines for the year 2009, ranked based on each blog’s 3-month Alexa.com traffic rank.

We started monitoring blogs in 2008 (see our 2008 Top 50 Philippine Blogs list) and, in 2009, we see a diverse collection of old and new blogs alike.

In this list, 19 blogs or 20% of the Top 50 entered the list for the first time in 2009. They either became popular or started only in 2009. This means the length of time a person has been blogging does not necessarily translate to higher traffic rank.

The complete Top 50 blogs list below.

Disclaimer

We recognize that the Alexa ranking system is not perfect, however, it still provides objective information about the popularity of a website that’s why we are using it for this list.

Some blogs tracked on the list are not one exclusive blog alone. On the same domain may be some more sub-blogs or sub-sites, which may affect the rank of that domain.

Our list of the Philippines’ Top Blogs ranks only blogs that are “Filipino-made” or “made primarily for the Philippine market.” The blogs were primarily taken from the list in Topblogs.com.ph and Ratified.org. We excluded blogs with no new posts in the last 3 months and also whose majority of posts:

  • feature nude or sexy pictures or videos of people;
  • offer free streaming or download of copyrighted music, videos, movies and other media;
  • offer downloads or provide links to downloads of themes, layouts, games, software, etc.;
  • promote sex, violence, terrorism, or discrimination; or
  • are mere aggregate of other blogs and sites

Corporate blogs and subdomain blogs which cannot be separately ranked are also excluded from the list.

If you know a blog that should be included here, please contact us so we can include it in the next update.

  1. Thank you James for posting this! Made me look at my alexa ranking and found out I am now at 212,740 which should be good enough to be included in the top 100… yehey! Maybe you can include Foreclosure Philippines in the next update?

    Just a comment on alexa, according to it, 50% of my traffic comes from South Korea which does not jive with Google analytics. Is this kind of discrepancy what you meant when you said that the alexa ranking system is not perfect?

  2. @Dex, actually what Alexa is measuring is traffic, so to increase your Alexa rank, you need to increase the number of visitors to your blog.

    @Mark, good luck! Hope to see your blog in the Top 50 in the next update!

    @marhgil, matibay nga, Top 14 pa rin ang blog mo!

    @Jay, will surely add your blog in the next update. Right now, your blog is ranked at #63! The Alexa stats,I think is a 3-month average, so probably a lot of visitors from South Korea went to your blog during that time. If that’s not the case, then that’s really weird because it seems that Alexa is not correctly measuring traffic.

    @Tyrone, sure! Will add your blog in the next update. It’s at #53 right now, with an Alexa rank of 181,354!

    @Ambo, your efforts did indeed pay off! Hope your blog will rise in rank in the next update.

    @Mo, will surely do. Your blog currently has an Alexa rank of 152,414, enough to be part of the Top 50. I’ll probably update the list this week and incorporate the new blog additions. Btw, greet me on your show, hahaha!

  5. Hello,

    I think this ‘pinoy community blog’ deserves to be in this list. They do NOT use the famous wordpress platform or the free blogger but they tried to use the forum software SMF and made it work like a blog. Please check their site. They do have a forum page but their homepage looks like a ‘blog’. Here’s the site, talkph.net
