How to Franchise: Dunkin’ Donuts in the Philippines

When it comes to pasalubong, Pinoys say it through something sweet and something hot. And for most Filipinos, one favorite pasalubong to bring home is Dunkin’ Donuts.

If you’re interested to invest in this brand, read on for more information on the basics of franchising DD.

About Dunkin’ Donuts

What started as a simple “meals and coffee” delivery in 1946 in the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts gave birth to a coffee and donut shop named Dunkin’ Donuts in 1950. In the 1960s, Dunkin’ Donuts founder William Rosenberg established an International Franchising Association that paved the way for the brand’s business franchising model.

In the Philippines, it was 1981 when Dunkin Donuts’ flagship outlet in the country opened at what was known as the Quad Car Park (now Park Square) in Makati.

This baked goods and coffee store has a chain of more than 800 outlets nationwide serving products such as Donuts, Munchkins, Coffee, Hot and Cold Beverages, Croissants, Bunwiches, Brownies, and Muffins.

Franchise Fee and Investment Packages

Dunkin’ Donuts offers two business models to prospective franchisees:

  1. Area Franchise

This franchise is awarded to an operator. The operator is responsible in developing the area or territory based upon the agreed development schedule. To put up the production center, the minimum investment starts at P32 Million.

2. Dealership

This model is stand alone. An independent entrepreneur is granted the right to franchise either a Kiosk or a Take-Out Counter which requires a minimum floor space of 5 square meters.

The investment franchise cost can start at P200,000 that can vary depending on the floor space and location of the outlet. Inclusive on this amount are the franchise fee and security deposit.

Franchise Inclusions

Aside from the brand and its goods, franchisees also receive the following benefits:

  • Training Program
  • Quality Assurance Assistance
  • Site Selection Assistance
  • Marketing and Promotional Support
  • Continuing Guidance from Assistance

Franchise Term and Other Conditions

The franchise is good for a five-year period and renewable by term basis upon the franchisee’s compliance, management, and operation.

It is the franchisee’s duty to hire employees and to prepare the building plan with an architect and a contractor.
