Richest Man in the World 2010 - Carlos Slim Helu The richest person in the world this year is not anymore Bill Gates or Warren Buffet.

It is Mexican Carlos Slim Helu — the first man from a developing country to grab that top spot since Forbes Magazine started the list.

There are 1,011 billionaires in the 2010 Forbes list of The World’s Billionaires, with the US claiming 403, followed by China and Russia, both with 62. Germany has 53, India has 49, Hong Kong has 41, France has 37, Turkey has 28, Taiwan and Brazil both have 18 billionaires.

The Philippines has 2 — Henry Sy at #201 (US$4.2 billion) and Lucio Tan at #582 (US$1.7 billion).

Top 10 Richest, Highest Paid Athletes (2009)

Here at PinoyMoneyTalk, we’ve always been a fan of the “List of the World’s Richest.”

We continue this today with a list of the top-paid sports persons in 2009. Compiled by Forbes Magazine, the ranking is based on earnings of the athletes from salaries, bonuses, prize money, endorsements and licensing income between June 2008 and June 2009 and does not deduct for taxes or agents’ fees.

Interestingly, Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is ranked 6th on the list, having earned more than $40 million.

According to the 2009 Forbes list of The World’s Billionaires, there are now only 793 billionaires around the world — down from 1,132 in the 2008 Richest People list. Their collective net worth is “just” $2.4 trillion, down $2 trillion from last year.

Top 10 Young Billionaires under 40

Facebook is definitely in but the guy who created it — Mark Zuckerberg — is out of Forbes Magazine‘s 2009 list of the world’s youngest billionaires.

The 24-year-old Facebook creator was the youngest billionaire in 2008 with around $1.5 billion networth. This year, he was dislodged from the Top 10 as the company’s revenues did not follow the growth of the site’s membership.

The title of youngest billionaire is now held by German Prince Albert von Thurn und Taxis with a networth of $2.1 billion.

Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page are still the richest among the young billionaires.
