Top 3 Best UITF by Investment Category (2019)

Since each fund is geared towards a certain customer segment and follows a different investment philosophy, it would be nice to compare only the funds within the same asset category.

Thus we also provide below the Top 3 UITF investments that generated the highest profits in each investment class. These are the funds that outperformed other funds belonging to the same class or category. You will notice that some of the “Top Funds” in the list show a negative return. They were still included in the list because they incurred the least amount of loss among their peers, hence, they’re still technically “top performers”.

If you’re looking to begin your UITF investment journey today, start with the information below showing relevant information about banks and trust corporations in the Philippines. This gives you an overview of Unit Investment Trust Funds (UITF) being offered in the Philippines and how to open an account with them.

How to Invest in BDO UITF

To open a UITF investment account with Banco de Oro (BDO), you may: (1) visit any BDO branch; or (2) use their online banking facility or mobile app, if you’re an existing BDO customer.

If you’re opening an account in a BDO branch, inquire with their staff assigned to UITF about BDO’s investment products. They’re usually accommodating and will answer questions you may have regarding UITF.

Just bring a photocopy of your 2 valid IDs and fill out these account opening forms to be provided to you by BDO:

  • One (1) set of Customer Account Record
  • One (1) set of Signature Card
  • Investor Profile Questionnaire (IPQ)
  • Client Investment Suitability (CIS)
  • Risk Disclosure Statement (RDS)
  • Declaration of Investor/s
  • Omnibus Participating Trust Agreement

Alternatively, if you’re already an existing BDO customer, you may open a UITF account via BDO online banking or mobile app.

Just go to the “Trust and Investments” section and answer the UITF Investor Questinnaire. If you’re a first-time UITF investor, you will receive a call from a BDO Trust and Investments Group (TIG) representative within two (2) banking days to evaluate your risk profile and to explain to you the risks involved in UITF investing.

Now if you wish to contribute regularly to your UITF account, you may participate in BDO’s Easy Investment Plan (EIP) in which the minimum required amount is P1,000 every month. You may set this up also in the “Trust and Investments” section of the app or online banking website.

What are the different types of BDO UITF and how much is the minimum amount needed to open an account? Here’s a list of BDO’s UITF products available to you.
