FAQ on Google Adsense PIN

James Ryan Jonas

All Google Adsense publishers are required to enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN) in order to be eligible to receive payments from Adsense. You will receive the PIN via mail after your earnings balance has reached $50. Adsense publishers in the Philippines have reported that it usually takes around 20 days to 2 months before they receive the PIN from Adsense.

Below is a short FAQ about the Google Adsense PIN.

  • Why is a PIN necessary?

The PIN (Personal Identification Number) is key to verifying your Google AdSense account so that you can receive payments. Once your account balance reaches $100 — provided you have entered the PIN and removed all other holds from your account — you will be all clear to receive payments from Adsense.

PINs were issued starting January 28, 2005 — if your account was approved before this date, you do not need to enter in a PIN.

  • What does a PIN mailer look like?

PINs are printed on PIN mailers, which are white 4.5 x 6 inch (11.4 x 15.2 cm) postcards. Below are the front and back images of the PIN mailer that Google sends to publishers.

  • When can I receive my PIN?

Once your account balance reaches $50 $10 (now lowered to $10), your PIN is generated and sent via first class mail within 3-5 days. You can view the date it is generated by clicking the “Please enter your PIN” link on your Payment History page. PINs normally arrive within 2-4 weeks but in the Philippines, publishers are reporting that they receive the PIN anytime between 20 days and 2 months after the PIN was generated. • When do I need to enter my PIN in order to be eligible for payments?

You need to enter your PIN by the 15th of the month so that you will be qualified for payments for that month. For example, if your account balance exceeded $100 during January, you should enter your PIN on or before February 15th in order to qualify for payment in February. If you entered the PIN after the 15th, your earnings are rolled over to the following month and you will be paid during the next payment cycle.

  • Is there a validity period for the PIN I received?

Yes, you have 6 months from the date the PIN was initially issued. If you did not enter the PIN within 4 months, only Public Service Ads will show up in your ads. If you still have not entered your PIN within 6 months, Google will disable your account and your unpaid earnings will be refunded to the advertisers.

  • It’s been months and I still haven’t received my PIN. Help!

Don’t fret, if you were unable to receive the first PIN, you are allowed to request at most 2 more replacement PINs. Make sure, however, that you request for a new PIN 3 weeks after your last PIN was mailed.

To request for a new PIN:

  1. Log in to your AdSense account.
  2. Click the “My Account” tab.
  3. Continue to the Payment History page.
  4. Click the “Please enter your PIN” link.
  5. Click “Request a new PIN”
  • My old PIN has arrived but I already requested a new one. What do I do?

All replacement PINs issued for your account are exact duplicates of the original, so you can enter any of the PINs you receive, regardless of which one arrives first.
