July 27 – Classes in NCR suspended

July 26, 2009

According to the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), classes at all public and private schools will be suspended on July 27 at all levels (pre-school, elementary, high school, and college).

The class suspension on Monday is due to the expected surge in traffic brought about by the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo which coincides with the 95th anniversary celebration of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC).

Employees, however, will still have to report for work since July 27 is declared a “working holiday.”

The rest of the holidays in 2009 and the official holidays for 2010 can be found in this official list of Philippine holidays for 2009 and 2010.

Thank God for this! Hopefully this will help alleviate the traffic at the C5-Libis area due to the latest “installment” of the concrete re-blocking by the MMDA… sigh.
