Forbes Magazine recently released the 2018 List of the World’s Billionaires, and included there are 12 Filipino billionaires which ultimately represent the 12 richest people in the Philippines.
Topping the richest list in the Philippines, for 10 consecutive years now, is Henry Sy, founder and majority shareholder of SM Investments, operator of SM malls. His net worth in 2018 is $20 Billion.
Next on the list is John Gokongwei Jr, founder of JG Summit Holdings, which has stakes in Universal Robina Corp. (URC), Cebu Pacific, Robinsons Malls, and Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. (RRHI), among others. His net worth stands at $5.8 Billion.
The 3rd richest Filipino is Enrique Razon Jr of International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI), a local and international port operator. He is also the majority shareholder of Bloomberry Resorts Co. (BLOOM), which operates Solaire Casino.

All 12 people above are perennial members of the Filipino Billionaires list, but conspicuously absent were Jaime Zobel de Ayala of Ayala Corp. (AC), Lucio Co of Puregold Price Club (PGOLD), and Andrew Gotianun of East West Bank, among others.
That doesn’t mean, though, that Ayala, Co, Gotianun, etc. are no longer “rich”. Since the list above only identified the Filipino Billionaires (in terms of net worth in US Dollars), it’s possible that their net worth is just below the $1 Billion mark. Still rich, definitely, especially in Philippine standards.
