Just finished reading this thread. Ask ko lang sa mga VUL holder, if let's say you finished paying it in 5 years, what are the charges na mababawas pa sa fund mo?
Thanks sa sasagot.

Hi! As far as I know, it differs from company to company. Pero ito ang alam kong mga charges (among others): Insurance charges (depende sa age) and annual Management Charges (1%-3%)
Licensed Life and VUL Insurance agent at Insular Life;
Licensed Certified Investment Solicitor (CIS) at PAMI

Never mix investing with insurance! Trust me, VUL is a bad idea-- you'll get miniscule returns most of the time.
Your insurance salesman will show you wonderful projections, but none perform as projected. Buy term life insurance instead.

The charges deducted monthly from your policy's fund value are composed
of the periodic charge and the cost of insurance charge.

Period charge is 0%,50%,25%,5%,5% from Year 1 thru Year 5.
No charges from Year 6 onwards.

Cost of insurance charges depend on the face amount(coverage)
and your gender and your age.

For a 20-ish aged person, the cost of insurance is Php 1.xx per Php 1,000
of coverage.
So, if you have a 1M policy, the cost of insurance is probably Php 1,xxx
a year.

Cost of insurance charges apply from Year 1 till the policy is terminated
(i.e. you die, you surrender your policy, the policy matures which is at age 88)
**

Yes, it is theoretically possible. If the money in the policy rans out you'll be
asked to top-up, basically put some more money in otherwise the policy
will lapse.

**

You can check the proposal the agent made to find out when you can
expect to break even. Even at a return of 10% p.a. it would take a few
years to break even.

So you have it invested in a bond fund which is the less riskiest among
the fund offerings save for the money market fund, you can expect a long
waiting time to break even.(since less risk equals less possible rewards).

**

Btw, not to be harsh but considering the fact that you got burned by
misunderstanding how UITFs work, I would have expected you to be more
careful this time around..

Everything you've asked is found in the proposal which you were required
to sign acknowledging that you understand the risks of a VUL.

I mean, unless you have riders, the regular proposal is just a short 2 page document. Its not hard
to read all of the terms and conditions.

True. And i guess, from the start pa lang it''ll explain well by your agent for what will happen in the first 5 years. You can talk to your agent for more clarification regarding sa investment mo. 😊

Mutual funds if for wealtg accumulation,
VUL is for your protection and at the same time, you have an investment. Sabi nga nila, kapag kailangan mo ng insurancefor yourself, hindi na pwede or mahirap ng ma approve. So why dont you start early and be prepared for what will happen next.

In ecc.7:11 Wisdom is better if you also have property. Wise people will get more than enough wealth.

VUL is very expensive. Never mix investing with insurance. It's always a bad idea.

I work in the financial services industry for almost 2 decades now; the only ones who say that VUL is a great investment are the ones who sell it!

You'll get the same insurance coverage with a Term-life at a small fraction of the cost.
