Our December 2014 Member of the Month is casanova! Congratulations!
December 2014 Member of the Month: casanova1. Hi casanova! How long have you been a PMT Forum member? Share to us how you discovered PinoyMoneyTalk.- Hello everyone. I just check my profile its said April 12, 2011, hehehe. I discovered PMT thru search engine while I search for stock investing and money management related topics.
2. Why did you choose the username "casanova"? - Well, for one I am a modern day Casanova. Hahaha. I am an adventurer type of person. There was I time in my life that I was a charming sweet talker... you know what I mean. Been using this username since I watch the movie of that title, the peak of my casanova days.
3. What are your hobbies or special interests?- I love playing basketball, playing fantasy basketball, cars until I had a family and choose a family car than my Civic SiR. I tried photography as a hobby but my right side of the brain is not that develop. I am a leisure shooter until the recent gun control by our government. I am currently trying Hrydophonic gardening and very much interested in woodworking. I used to have exotic pets like tarantula's, scorpions and boa. I think my choice of interest is very complicated. lol...
4. Tell us something interesting that we don't know about you. - Hmmm... I don't watch TV. Hindi ako updated sa mga tele-novela, at di ko kilala yung mga artista ngaun. I only watch basketball on TV. Most of the time hindi ako makarelate sa usapan sa office about the previous night episode even new commercial. As if I live in the cave hehehe But I do watch a lot of foreign Tv series on laptop.
Few people knew about this, I have some sort of scholars studying HS from my mother's hometown. I giving monthly allowance and shoulder their tuition and uniforms. We already had 2 graduates from our program.
I used to gamble in collage (Pusoy) to have money for school expenses, luckily I was good on it. I do some extra works to have extra money while studying.
5. How is casanova in PMT different from casanova in real life?- Well... wala ako maisip eh baka wala difference hehe. Siguro yung pagging logical ko in real life, as much as possible I try to plan everything.
6. How do you make money? Share to us your sources of income so we can be inspired as well.- Sad to say I am still in the rat race. My main source of income is my salary; I earn extra doing a lot of overtime as my job sometime demands to do such. I set aside maximum amount contribution from my salary as my capital to our Employees savings and loan association. Which is giving me annual dividend tax free of 10-20%.
I have stocks investment (for retirement funds). I have few hundred thousand invested in corn chips used in feeds yielding 1.5% monthly. We have a few residential lots, one I flip in less than a year and earned almost half my initial investment. Always on the look up for investment opportunity. Have some UITF and loaned some money. I bought a foreclosed property to be flip but we fell in love with the location and currently living on it.
7. Can you tell us tips or suggestions that guide you in order to succeed financially?- Like most of the readers here, I am still in the journey towards financial success. But maybe the old adages spend less from what you earned. Be thrifty but don't sacrifice quality. Think on how you can increase your means to take care of your wants...
Always be ready, so when there is an opportunity you can take advantage of it. Don't buy something you can't afford, If you can't pay it in cash it's a good bet you can't afford it. Don't be trap to bad debt, I was never been a borrower in any of my coop, unless it's a calamity loan earning (3% diminishing interest). Be financially literate so others can't take advantage on what you don't know. And at the end of the day money won't make or break you...you always have tomorrows... I slept as if nothing happens
8. What is your ultimate personal goal that you want to achieve?- Retire young and have my own business and a farm. Have a wealthy and healthy family. Have something for my children to start with. And touch lives of other people by sharing what we have.
9. If there is one thing you can change about the Philippines, what would it be and why?- The politicians and the way we elect them. They are the blocker for the true and sustainable progress of our country. Kung pwede nga lang mawala lahat ng corrupt sa gobyerno para magstart ng bago..
10.Your motto or guiding principle in life?- "Perfection is my goal, only excellence can be tolerated.”
Wait, there's more! Just for the heck of it...a. Favorite movie? - Lord of The Ring Trilogy, Night of the Living Dead, Black Hawk Down, Saving Pivate Ryan, Behind Enemy Lines.
b. Favorite song or music genres? - Depende sa mood eh... Im not genre specific person

i. Marry intelligent but ugly person or marry stupid but beautiful person? - Well, I married an intelligent beautiful person so I do believe they exist.
