The Low Carb High Fat Diet

Hi PMTers,

Who else is on this diet?

Gusto ko lang ishare sa inyo at baka makatulong sa pagpapapayat at pagmamaintain weight nyo.

I have been on this diet for 3 months now and Im glad to say that it is working for me.
I lost about 5kg with the diet alone
 (no starvation, no vigorous exercise, hangang walking nga lang kase obese type1 dati).
Then I started jogging more than a month ago  2x a week about 3km.
(baka nabababaan kyo, starting pa lang po :D)
In total about 7kg na natatanggal ko. About 5kg more to go para sakin bago ako magmaintain.

I follow this diet about 5-6x a week, tpos meron cheat day/s(kanin mode carbo loading lol)
Good thing about this diet is hindi mo gugutumin sarili mo, basta hindi mo lang pwede kainin yung high ni carbohydrates and sugar (fast food is out Im afraid, once a week pwede na sakin  :D).

A LCHF diet means you eat less carbohydrates and a higher proportion of fat. Most importantly you minimize your intake of sugar and starches. You can eat other delicious foods until you are satisfied – and still lose weight.

A number of recent high-quality scientific studies shows that LCHF makes it easier both to lose weight and to control your blood sugar. And that’s just the beginning.

The basics

Eat: Meat, fish, eggs, vegetables growing above ground and natural fats (like butter).
Avoid: Sugar and starchy foods (like bread, pasta, rice and potatoes).
Eat when you’re hungry until you are satisfied. It’s that simple. You do not need to count calories or weigh your food. And just forget about industrially produced low fat products.

There are solid scientific reasons why LCHF works. When you avoid sugar and starches your blood sugar stabilizes and the levels of insulin, the fat storing hormone, drops. This increases your fat burning and makes you feel more satiated.

Note for diabetics

Avoiding the carbohydrates that raise your blood sugar decreases your need for medication to lower it. Taking the same pre-low-carb diet dose of insulin might result in hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). You need to test your blood sugar frequently when starting this diet and adapt (lower) your medication. This should ideally be done with the assistance of a knowledgeable physician. If you’re healthy or a diabetic treated either by diet alone or just with Metformin there is no risk of hypoglycemia.

Ako, since bata naka-diet mode ako kaya hindi ako tumataba :D

Mostly chicken (roasted or panfried (rosemary chicken  dali lng gawin sarap pa :D)), sometimes beef or pork(bihira pork sa MY) kinakain ko lahat maski yung taba/balat andun yung lasa e hehehe
Umiiwas ako sa may sabaw kasi kailangan ng kanin nun lol
Then for sides either salad(madalas wala dressing), or stir fried mushrooms, or steamed brocolli with butter.

Afternoon or evening snack on almonds or cheese, depende sa mood.
Tpos yung source ng carbs ko from veggies lang or oats sa umaga, or piece of fruit(banana or apple).

Iwas ako sa carbo, yung pasta, rice at lalo na bread, maski whole wheat pa yan.
No to french fries din at softdrinks. Kung babanat sa fastfood, yung 2pc. chicken lage.
Ice cream hindi ko minsan maiwasan, cone lng naman

pag either Friday and/or Saturday tulad ngayon, cheat day kaya khit ano pwede. Hindi maiwasan beer night out :D

Reality check: Citizenship---Filipino, and so is the culture. So rice is always in, but reduced amount and properly spaced eating.
Tip from a NY nurse who suffered from gestational diabetes--- substitute simple carbohydrates with complex ones like sweet potatoes or mamaliga( corn meals like the Europeans do). She actually volunteered to have her blood tested at intervals after eating several rice substitutes, just to keep her blood sugar levels steady because extreme diabetes can retard the brain function of the yet unborn baby. (My little nephew was actually delivered via C-section 2 weeks premature because the diabetes went haywire at that time)

And lately, a relative dropped dead of hypertension at age 42 and she is very slim. Ilokano diet nga lang. Pati taba na sinangkutsa na halo sa pinakbet, walang patawad.

Find something that works for you, including keeping your blood chemistry at least median normal in all values #masaya ang lola nyo na 120/80 pa rin at puro normal ang blood values. As in, nakakabahala naman yung pagkain ng "taba".

@freefront I cant argue with first hand experience,
although I think na hindi lang sa kinakain nya "taba" kaya siya may hypertension

Excess sugar intake can lead to it, aside from salt.
