It's quite refreshing to see savings and investments included among monthly budget items.

most of the posts here go against what the expert are advising..  whatever happened to live within your means?  so whatever your income is, you should live comfortably below that.

personally, i've never had any major problems between when i was making 8k per month gross, to now that i'm an OFW making err.. more than 8k per month..  i've always lived COMFORTABLY below my means.

I guess the figures here should not be treated to realistically represent "living" throughout the Philippines. I used to earn over PhP60k net (mid- to late 2000s) but can't seem to have a steady flow of savings. I lived then in an urban area (Las Pinas and Taguig City).

When I changed career and transferred to a rustic area (Nagcarlan, Laguna) in 2011, my monthly net income plunged to PhP40k to PhP50k. Ironically, along with all the changes that had happened, I noticed a considerable inflow of savings to my 2 bank accounts, at an average of PhP10k-15k a month.

Of course, we all have our own lifestyles which "control" how we live and spend, but I do think the place of residence, particularly the cost of living of that area, also have a significant impact on how we spend.

Nagcarlan's environment is almost like Tagaytay. I live in a small, undeveloped farm sitting at the foot of Mt. Banahaw, where it's raining almost everyday. My electric bill when I lived in the city used to be around 6-7k a month (24/7 use of aircon is really expensive). Now, I only use electric fan usually during noon to the afternoon, and my electric bill averages to around PhP1k a month (during the cold "Ber" months, the average bill is PhP800).

 :watchuthink:

Postscript: My 2 aircon units now function differently. One is used as "patungan" (sort of a table furniture) of a deskfan, while the other is just "sleeping" in the stockroom.  :D

Kung Single ka, 30-40K ok na. Ipon ka para pambili ng Bahay in Cash para dika lugi sa Interest.

Exp: Kuryente,grocery,allowances,perks = 10,000 Sagad
Savings = 30,000 Sagad.
After 5 years = 1.8M Sagad kung puro Savings lang pero kung may investment ka pa mas malaki na yan.
Tapos Kuha ka na Bahay in Cash at Kotse. Kesa mag Loan ka masakit at lugi ka pa.

**********************

so dapat pla basic salary mo is around 50k to 60k para makakuha ng net na 30k to 40k..hehe

Mahal cost of living sa Manila. I plan to go back sa probinsya and live there (as soon as I convince my hubby haha). An income of 50k would set us in the upper middle class lifestyle na. Sa probinsya, i wouldn't need to buy a lot, just need to save up for house construction and set it in one of my father's lands, ammorticize for a car, plant veggies and mag alaga ng poultry and live stock sa yard (hehe) for food. Basically, everything is cheaper sa probinsya. Ang mahirap dun is maghnap ng work that would give you an income of 50k a month.  :hihi:

An income of 60 to 70k I think would be enough for newly married couple.

  • Hopialikeit: To newbies in the Philippine Stock Market. This is my 0.02 based from my experience but I'm still learning as well. Buy a stock with good fundamentals but actively check your investments (know when to cut loss, accumulate, unload). Mahirap magtrade or magtsupit unless may info ka from stock jockeys themselves kung kelan papaliparin (not saying it's impossible but nahirap sya.
