No, bonds are NOT mutual funds.

you are specifically referring to Bond FUNDS which are mutual funds/UITF that are invested in bonds.

a year ago I've tried RTB with Allied Bank... initial is 50k with quarterly return of 500+ pesos.

Have you guys seen the latest RTB commercial?
here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AX19WXD1mnE
This vid is not mine though

Nakita ko lang siya sa TV
eh do you guys think that the government is starting to target small time investors and the general public?
What do you think about this commercial?

Yup, there are lots of webinars and online courses offered by Stanford. But lately i'm more hooked up with Coursera. They have an upcoming 10-week course on Personal Financial Planning. For FREE. :-)

wala akong makausap na bank branch officer na knowledgeable sa BPI and BDO. nung tinanong ko sila, nagtanong din sila sa manager tapos yung manager pinatawag lang sila sa phone. so ako, never mind nalang. next time ko na pag-aaral pag kelangan ko na maging conservative type.
BPI and BDO ay hindi masyado accommodating to sell T-bills kasi they prefer that you invest sa mga funds nila (MF, UITF) and then sila mag-invest sa T-bills... The rest of the commercial banks are accomodating

Does anyone know the rates for retail treasury bonds? May be someone bought recently? :) Or can we use these rates from ADB: https://asianbondsonline.adb.org/philippines.php

Does the bank charge processing fees? Around how much?

Btw, I saw in metrobank website that their minimum for RTBs is now 500k (yeah, malaki pa rin pero pwede na kaysa 1M).
https://www.metrobank.com.ph/treasury_product.asp

Also, for those considering bond funds, research their fees first (trust fee, custodian fee, xxx fee).
For metrobank products ( https://www.metrobank.com.ph/trust_product.asp ), it is around 1% to 2.5%. For example, kung 1.5% yung fees nila at 3.5% ang yeild/rate ng underlying instrument, 2% nalang napupunta sa iyo as investor. Almost half of the income goes to the institution. I believe other institutions are charging around the same fees, better get the direct RTBs if you can afford it.

RTB? Retail nga yan, so why minimum of 500K?
