A what, you say? A virtual assistant is a person who works for someone / a company to do certain tasks depending on the skills he or she possesses. I have been working from home for 7 months and as a wife and mother of two (plus another bun in the oven, 5 months now). All I can say is that, this is the perfect work set up for me and I feel so fortunate to have found it.

It was the beginning of 2010. I was deliberating on whether to leave my stressful office job since it was already draining me out. After weighing it all out, I decided that it wasn't worth the stress and I resigned. It was a bold move, I know. But I had to make that change and stay positive. I was pregnant at that time and while at home, I started surfing the internet about home-based work. Almost every site I visited turned out to be frauds so, I became hesitant to pursue my search for that ideal job from home. To start my day right, I read verses from the Bible, pray and subscribed and read Bo Sanchez's newsletters. It was in one of his newsletters where I came across Jomar Hilario's Manila Virtual Assistant Seminar. Filled with hope, I decided to attend the seminar in November of 2010. A few months after that, I was hired!

I started working as a virtual assistant in April 2011. I found it challenging since it is very new, not a lot of people know what a virtual assistant is. It was a leap for me, as I am the one who always wants to be sure of things. I feared the unknown. But working from home was quite the ideal set up and so, I went for it. I am glad I did! I am still a VA, and learning more everyday.

I shall add more experiences and some of my work on this thread in the coming days. This is simply something I would like to share. Feel free to read and comment! :moneyeyes

Good for you!

However, i hope your next goal is to have online passive income by being an internet marketer.

Being a VA just turned you from an employee to a self-employed individual.

Hi!  Yes, this is what I really would like to be.  In fact, my work this week is to spend time learning how to blog, how to use keywords and how to choose topics for blogs.  I'm absorbing all of them right now I can't wait to put them in good use and see what happens once I've applied all that I've learned $$$!

Dos, how long have you been an internet marketer?

It's Monday once again, the beginning of another week!  For most moms, weekends are busier than weekdays because this is when they get to spend time with husband and kids especially if mom works at an office all day.  They drop everything so they can attend birthday parties, take the family to the movies, have lunch or dinner with the kids etc.  Well, if you work from home like I do, I get to squeeze some of those activities during weekdays.

When you're away from your computer and unable to work, it is very important that you mention this to your virtual boss.  Your arrangements with him/her since you were hired must be honored.  Make sure that you build trust with your employer and always value that trust.  This will take you to greater heights.  Besides, I believe that what goes around, comes around...

For those moms out there who are trying to make more time for the family, have you thought of making a bold move in your career yet?  Perhaps working from home is an option?

The best part of my day is when I see my son arrive from school.  My third grader leaves the house before 6am and takes the school bus.  When he comes home, he changes from uniform to pambahay then asks for merienda.  I enjoy talking to him while he eats.  He then relaxes before he starts studying or doing homework.

The time he is in school is when I usually begin my va work.  However, this doesn't happen all the time as I do errands like grocery shopping, paying bills and picking up all sorts of stuff from the cleaners  on some days.  Then, I begin my tutorial sessions with students in the afternoon.  My days are usually packed with schedules but this is another thing I've learned as a VA.  You just have to have good organizational skills.  I try really hard!  So far, I think it's all good!  I get to submit my work at the end of the day and feel very fulfilled before going to sleep.

Great news!  There is an upcoming Virtual Assistant Seminar on December 14.  To know more about it, visit www.filipinova.com

How are your schedules like, mommies?

I am glad to be feeling a lot better now. Last Thursday, I was so down with a bad cold with terrible headache and a slight fever of 37.9. I decided to rest it out that day since I couldn't even remain vertical for a long time anyway. The next day was just slightly better. My headache lasted the whole day plus a cough started to brew. I wished I could take more than ginger lemon tea but since I'm pregnant, I couldn't just take anything. Come the weekend, I was so much better! Guess all the rest, liquids, veggies and fruits did it! It turned out to be a productive weekend as I was able to submit some va work to my boss!

Last weekend, I came across a blog post about Jomar Hilario's Manila Virtual Assistant seminar. Going through the photos and write up reminded me of that VA Seminar that changed my life. I'm sure a lot of you are wondering what it's like at the VA Seminar. Here's your chance to discover it http://www.wheninmanila.com/how-to-work-from-home-as-a-virtual-assistant-a-seminar-by-jomar-hilario/

Have you thought of attending the next one on December 14? If yes, visit www.filipinova.com to reserve your seats.

Hello Ciarc!  This reply is kinda late coz I had to attend to my va work and yes, I was sick too.  My previous post, the one about the VA Seminar blogpost give you an idea how I started.  After that, visit www.filipinova.com to reserve your seat.  The last Manila VA Seminar will happen on December 14 already!

Hope to hear about your va stories here soon!

As a vir... what?

Sounds new to you? It was to me when I first read about it 6 months ago.

I was looking for an online [legit!] job but found ...oh, none. Just lots of scams and online jobs that asks you to pay $20 or more for membership and whatever-fees that lets you earn a few cents a day. Like seriously?

So one day while reading my daily dose of spiritual booster, I came across a promotion of a work from home seminar from Catholic lay preacher Bo Sanchez's blog. I thought, "Hey, this might be legit if it's endorsed by this guy."

I signed up for the seminar. Attended May28 and went home very happy. Imagine, you can earn while you're at home a MINIMUM of $200? NO membership or whatever unnecessary fees. Right now, I'm working at home na as a Virtual Assistant, just a month after the seminar.

Okay, I know may duda kayo about this but if you really want to be sure, google the person's [the speaker] name, Jomar Hilario. He's been featured in MoneySense magazine Oct-Nov 2011 issue and The Philippine Daily Inquirer. Plus, here's a blog post made by an attendee... you can read it here [with photos!] -- http://www.wheninmanila.com/how-to-work-from-home-as-a-virtual-assistant-a-seminar-by-jomar-hilario/

The next and LAST seminar for this year is on the 14th of December. Habol ka na. =) Here's his website -- http://filipinova.com

Hope this helps you to have a chance at spending more time with your loved ones!

Sabi dun sa weblink ..

"In order to become a Virtual Assistant, you would need to have a new mindset.  From becoming an employee to an entrepreneur. "

Question: Di ba you change from traditional employee to non-traditional employee as VA?
Kasi kung entreprenuer, dapat you are employing VA in your company... Correct ba ako?

Case of E/S sa Cashflow quadrant ni Robert Kiyosaki ang VA, IMHO...

Hi Allan! In the long run, you can be a Virtual Assistant Manager if you want to "employ" people. You'll be the one to get YOUR clients, distribute the work to YOUR VAs, be the one to handle the salary distribution for your VAs and of course, you'll be the one to check the work of your VAs before sending them to your clients. Yun lang magiging job mo. =)

What Jomar wants to say there is, you need to change your mindset from being an employee -- which sunod ka lang ng sunod to your boss, even if sometimes you get to have lots of workload pero underpaid. It has become a normal thing na kasi for employees. Believe it or not, most of people, hinahanap hanap na yun because nakasanayan. Also, Jomar introduces it as a type of entrepreneur mainly because what you "sell" here are your skills. You have to know how to market your skills and set yourself apart from others. =)

Thanks for that opinion. Good thinking there!

Hi freestar! You mean how do they attend the seminar? Where are you from? We've been conducting this seminar in Cebu and Cagayan de Oro [on January 14-15, 2012], aside from Manila. We have participants from all over the globe. =)

If you really can't make it personally to the seminar, Jomar also has a downloadable version of this seminar. The thing is, pag personal ka umattend, you get to ask your questions personally kay Jomar which is a great advantage instead of just emailing him.

Here's the link for the downloadable version of the seminar -- http://jhilario.com/downloadva

Yeap, you're right, Dos. =) Are you a TrulyRichClub member of Bro Bo Sanchez? You might know Jomar Hilario then. He's the online marketer for Bro Bo... =)

I assume you are already enroll here. You can ask Jomar if he is teaching also "Building your VA venture" as a look ahead if you will pursue VA as a business of your own as an entreprenuer.

It seems the seminars are focusing on "Working as VA".

At the end of the day, VA is a lucrative active income but discover also the passive stream of this industry since you are engage already there. IMHO, that's a mindset from being an "non-traditional employee" to entrepreneur :-)

This post is about the How to Work from Home as a Virtual Assistant lang. But Jomar offers more programs pa on how you can actually earn online and offline. =)  As you know, Jomar is an Internet Marketer. Introducing people to the VA world is just one of his niches. As his students progress, he encourages them to do things that will allow their money to work for them na. He also has his Online Wealth Breakthrough Seminar which opens up people's minds focusing on their mindset -- pretty important for soon-to-be-or-wannabe-entrepreneurs. =)

Thanks, Allan!

So how is December treating everyone? I usually get a variety of answers to this question. For some, December is their best month. This is where they get their bonuses, the month where they get to see friends and family and the time to share our blessings and receive as well. For others, however, they find December the most hectic and tiring month of the year. It's the month where they spend way too much and where schedules get really tight. For whichever point of view we have of December, I hope we don't forget the reason for all the celebrations and the gift giving. Let's not forget to celebrate the birth of the One who saved each of us. =)

Personally, I view my December as a month of thanksgiving for the year that is about to end. The year 2011 has been a year of surprises for me. It's the year I discovered my call for teaching, running our frozen foods business and working from home as a virtual assistant and soon, earning online as an internet marketer. This month, I decided to offer my help and support to relatives and friends who are starting their own businesses, spend time with the elders and give something meaningful and useful to people who have worked for us (business and home) and their families.

What have you decided to do this December? =)
