We often heard of Rent to Own for houses or condo units.

It just hit my mind when I took a taxi yesterday- why not drive to own?

Its always a headache to get a good, decent, responsible driver. Sometimes they wont be able to give the "boundarys" regularly, or worse, cant even come to work regularly. As an operator, your car depreciates in value without being maximized.

Do you think it will be a good motivation for the driver that they will be able to own that taxi after a few years driving for you?

Of course, dapat di ka rin malugi, i have yet to think deeper and come up with  scheme that would generate good income and profit for the operator as well...

Comments? Suggestions?

^ it's a good motivation para sa driver sir.

i hope nakatulong ako... good luck sa plan mo sir.

Thanks puberer, actually m checking on he pros and cons...mukhang mas madami disadvantages, but will definitely consider those valid points you mentioned if ever i decide to continue with the idea....

The is the same as having a car loan sa bank and the bank gets interest. The only difference eh ikaw nagkapital and ofcourse gusto mo mas malaki kitain mo than the banks dahil sobrang risky yung pinautang mo. For me it's just too risky when problem starts baka di ka na  mabayaran.

Although medyo luma na ung taxi, marami pa ring drivers nagkakainterest kasi alam nila magiging kanila un balang araw at pwede pa nila mabenta. Parang un daw ang savings nila.   :cool2:

Tignan po natin ang ilang key areas ng isang typical "Rent to Own" (such as an apartment or condo) setup and your proposed "Drive to Own" for taxis to see if the latter idea is feasible.

In a rent to own apt. or condo, an individual usually pays a monthly rent or amortization for a certain period of time. The contract ceases upon the completion of payment. The condo or apartment could either be used for residential purpose (of the payee) or sometimes rented out (most likely to help out in the monthly payments). In essence, the individual bears the burden of paying for the monthly payments, so isang "item" lang ang prinoproblema nung individual.

In your idea for a "Drive to Own" taxi, the driver will be paying for both the daily "boundary" and the monthly payments for a certain period of time which will stop upon the completion of payments for the agreed amount to own the taxi, am I correct here?

Based on my actual experience, very seldom na sa ngayon ang single (unmarried) taxi driver, so it's already a given that the daily earnings (after deducting the boundary and other expenses such as minor repairs and gasoline) will be used for the daily needs of the driver's family. So naka-earmark na ung daily earnings for that, malaki man o maliit ung kinita ng driver.

I thin most of us are aware that taxi drivers earn a lot during Christmas seasons, but that's just a few months (maybe around November to January) per year. For the rest of the other months, given the perennial sad state of the traffic situation in most regional centers, especially in the NCR, and the ever increasing costs of gasoline and car spare parts, parang napakahirap isipin na makakaya ng isang average driver ung "Drive to Own" scheme.

Lastly, it's also worthwhile to know what is the normal motivation of an average taxi driver in entering his/her line of work. Of course, lahat naman gustong umasenso, sino ba ang ayaw? But do the majority of taxi drivers can realistically aspire to become taxi operators themselves? A few maybe, but their number is quite insignificant to have this idea pursued, sa tingin ko lang po.

These are just my ideas. I hope others can also share their valuable thoughts.

 :thankyou:

The risk is the same with insurance business... You need to spread the risk to have a better result, that means this idea is for large operation only.
