Investing on health

A lot of topics were posted especially investment opportunities.

Do you know that the best investment is investing in health early?

I read about how doctors work so hard to earn and at the end of the day, they spent all their earnings on health having ignored it for the earlier years.

There is also this common story of a very successful businessman who on executive check up a tumor was discovered. WOW!

The money that should have been spent for retirement and enjoyment is drained for health reasons.

So- what are the screening procedures you know and how soon should all these be done?

Mammography? Colonoscopy? Upper GI endoscopy? Chest x-ray?

My motto : bawal magkasakit!

i started being a health buff when i was in college.

Ive been working out religiously, for more than 15 years (3-4x a week).
Aside from hitting the gym, i play other sports too.
I stopped drinking soda for more than 5 years now (only water and non fat milk na lang).
Brown rice only.
Fish and chicken only.
Organic fruits (especially blueberries) and veggies everyday.
Dont smoke
Dont Drink alcoholic beverages
more fiber and grains / less sugar and salt intake.

Mikoykoy have a very good point and so is mlang set. I think the common denominator here is a healthy lifestyle.

An exercise regimen 3x a week would be good enough. No smoking (yahoo) no drinking, and avoid fatty foods. When you follow these regimen, you take away the chances of having most types of GI cancers.

The only thing we can't prevent are the familial types. Meaning it is in the genes bro.

Just a food for thought. I think eating with minimal rice is the best way to lose those unwanted pounds.

I tried all sorts of stuff and as usual ningas kugon.

Until last January 20, 2010, I decided to stop eating rice. Hard at first but I substituted lots of vegetables instead of rice. Slowly my hunger center adopted and altogether my food intake went down. I ate anything except the fats.

From 210 lbs, I am down to 188lbs. From 41 to 37 waistline in 50 days.

My blood pressure is now stable at 120-130/80-90.

This is without workout yet which I am contemplating to do next week.

im based here in the US, brown rice is available almost everywhere.
pero bumibili ako sa mga pinoy stores.
yung blueberries, sa costco ako bumibili.

other sports/activities: badminton, jogging, yoga

well, eating minimal rice indeed is one way, but not necessarily the best way to lose weight, imho.

white rice substitutes --- brown/red/etc. rice, mais, kamote, whole grain cereals, nuts, etc, along with vegetables...

exercise, sports, hobbies will definitely help. imho, these (sports, exercise) are vital to our health.

I do not like going to doctors, frankly speaking and to be brutally frank.
Most of them care only about their pockets.

I believe the doctors mentioned were in the US.

Here in our country, well it might apply to some doctors. I don't agree that that is the general rule.

Most doctors are still service oriented. But there are really some notorious ones indeed.

Matagal na din nagstart kami ng family ko sa healthy lifestyle.Minsan medyo magastos din at time consuming lalo na sa exercise ,pero mas marami benefits talaga.Life is so important,magastos at malungkot kapag maysakit.Kaya yes to a healthy lifestyle.

Cigarette smoking is a cause of most cancers! Stop it and you get rid of having those dreaded diseases.

Smokers might be laughing or cursing now but believe me, when you reach 50 up, that's the time you will start saying, "Sayang, di ako nakinig".
