Split from original topic: OFWs and immigrants are stupid and failures? (Part 1)

totoo naman na stupid ang mga immigrants. As I kept on implying before.

This thread remains because everyone is entitled to his or her opinion and opinions are respected as long as no personal attacks or individual namecalling are made.

Stick to the issue at hand. Based on the arguments presented by both sides, do you think OFWs and immigrants are stupid and failures?

That's the only thing we are talking about here.

To defuse the current tension in this and several other threads, we are banning ekimonk for 2 weeks from today. This stems from his persistent violations of the forum rules, particularly here, here, and here.

As a long-time member of the forum (and suspended several times as well), he is expected to know and follow the forum rules. If and when he comes back, succeeding violations will merit a permanent ban of his account from the PMT Forum.

ekimonk, be advised.

Try to talk to each everyone of them, economically they are disgruntled contrary to what you claim.

They will sell everything an anything just to survive. It is so sad but true.

I have families who are OFW and me, will soon be an OFW. BUT honestly in some poin stated I tend to agree. Why? considering that Im soon to be an OFW? Because the offer is irresistable. The bonus is good not just pay PLUS the career that I have in semiconductor is not much here na. So in some way it depends on the situation.

What I agree upon is, I know some who are already a manager, 2 house and lot BUT willing to give all that to migrate and gamble since they will sell all theor fortune here and not sure even for a job abroad.

I tend to agree also for those who think that Pinas is a worthless country. Surely there is a lot that is happening here but individually we can also control our fate.

For me depende lang talaga

I take offense in the demeaning of our migrant workers.

Although I still think it's a sad reality for the country. Madami pa tayong dapat ayusin dito.

Goodday evry1!

If someone with the caliber of Warren Buffet or George Soros will call me a failure, well I might understand considering the point they are coming from.  But if a nobody will make a comment like that, I won't take it personally.  It's just another opinion.

bosing ahock, bat no naman nasabi yan? if you think this country is worthless bat di ka umalis nuon pa? di ba dito ka lumaki at nagaral? kung gusto mo magabroad o magmigrate, good luck sa yo, but to post something like this, you disrespect the whole nation, which is quite ironic kasi andito ka pa rin.. alam mo maraming namatay, defending this "worthless country".. ano sasabihin mo sa kanila pag nakita mo sila sa kabila?

ahock...dati ka bang intel hehehe...may kilala kasi ako who goes by that sig...

I would have to disagree with you about Pinas being worthless...but then I have to give you the benefit of a doubt here...maybe this is your thinking because of rampant corruption and crime in Pinas. My personal opinion? I'd re-phrase that from "Pinas being worthless" to "Pinas having government officials who are worthless"  :D

I love my country but I REALLY hate living in Manila. I usually stay in the province where the air is clean and the food is fresh. It's all about the quality of life! :D

Back to the topic. I am an OFW. I don't feel slighted by ekimonk's comment because I know I'm not stupid and a failure. I respect his opinion but I have to strongly disagree. Eki, kudos to you and your 4M networth, I'm sure you worked hard for it. But at the end of the day, we need to understand that for every OFW there is a different circumstance why he/she opted to work abroad. And we have to respect them for that - for pursuing their dreams and ambitions. There's nothing wrong with that, right?

Who are we to judge if a father chooses to be homesick and away from his family in exchange for a brighter future?

my own dad was an OFW for 40 years. para saan ang lahat ng pagtitiis ng tatay ko? para mapag-aral kaming mga anak niya, para mabuhay kami ng marangal, para hindi kami umasa sa iba. my dad is a ship captain and back then, there were very limited opportunities locally for seafarers like him. bakit siya magtitiis sa kakarampot na sweldo kung kaya naman niya maglayag sa ibang bansa?

let me show another side. my father-in-law is a nuclear physicist from new york university. kung limited ang opportunities for seafarers before, mas lalo naman for nuclear physicists. but my father-in-law decided to stay here in the philippines kasi nandito yung family niya. instead of practicing nuclear physics (nagsara na ang bataan nuclear power plant by that time), he opted to teach na lang. hindi ko minamaliit yung pagtuturo but the pay wasn't enough for his family since he taught in state universities. compared to my own family's financial standing, ours was much better.

may maganda namang naidulot yung pagstay ng father-in-law ko dito sa pinas. his four children worked harder and got themselves scholarships to send them through school.

kami namang magkakapatid, all our schooling were paid for by my dad. wala din namang napariwara sa amin and all of us are stable.

if your only basis for happiness is money, then you're severely mistaken. many people get their joy and fulfillment from working, from accomplishing something. masasaya nga ba ang mga tao sa squatter's area? or they are just making do with what they have? settling for what you have is not the same as happiness.

Total remittance of Overseas Filipinos for 2008 as reported by Bangko Sentral:

16,426,854,000 USD

SHOW US YOUR WISDOM EKIMONK!!

For over 20 years nag paalipin sya dun.

Peace out!  :rakenrol:
