after experiencing the overwhelming hospital bills of my Dad lately. i"m planning to get a health card or health insurance plan to saved my kids from having to go through the same ordeal as we are experiencing right now.

I only have philhealth & have already benefited from it since one of my kid got hospitalized a lot when he was younger.

some friends suggested maxicard, caritas & others. Would really appreciate the good people here who can share their experiences w/ these health cards. good or bad comments of the products are welcome here.

sooner or later we'll get old. i think it will be better for all of us to have some sort of medical insurance when our body starts breaking down & would require high maintainance repair here & there.

 :thankyou: in advance!

I got caritas for my parents...... it's a big dissapoinment! Wala silang network sa provinces.
Instead, you could inquire on the bigger HMOs around.

My in- laws are using them. So far 70% approval rating nila. In my own opinion, para lang din insurance ng kotse, pag walang prob ay ok lang, Pag may claims na, pahirapan sa pagkuha.

So far ok naman ang BlueCross coverage - doctors and hospital of your choice.

Kaya lang, parang insurance sa kotse, once di mo nagamit on that year, wala na, expense na.

Intellicare try nyo.

wala ng individual accounts ang intellicare now. kelangan group/company account.
nag-benefit rin parents ko sa intellicare before.

i got maxicare for both of my parents now. for two years, na-max out ng dad ko ang 200k na coverage since he was hospitalized 3x. im thankful meron HMO para tumulong samen sa mga gastusin, since medication pa lang, super mahal na. retired na rin papa ko.

in our family, lahat kami may health/life insurance. papa ko pa nagbabayad. pero sya sarili nya, he didn't think of getting one. hay. since marami na sya sakit now, hindi na rin sya insurable now. buti nalang pwede pa sya sa maxicare.

I'm not sure though.  Check ko rin.   :hello:

Kaiser = healthcare + mutual fund

2 in 1. investment and protection  :D

Pm nio ko if you are interested. I can refer you to Kaiser and explain the details.  :cool2:

as per research, up to 300 to 500 thousand lang ang cancer coverage ng most insurance companies sa philippines.

The best for me is Insular Health Care. For only P1,000+ per month, you get top notch service from the First and Largest Filipino Life Insurance company.

Insular Life is the only insurance company in the Philippines to offer a wide range of products from

1. Non-Life - Mapfre Insular
2. Life - Insular Life
3. HMO - I Care

Magandang Araw!

I have no problems with my patients enrolled in Cocolife, Medicard and Maxicare. These are the big 3 health cards recognized by most hospitals. Remember, any doctor who accepts patients with health cards are not supposed to balance bill them. Meaning, if the expenses does not exceed their allowable benefits, the health card pays the doctors based on an agreed formula

If you are not convinced yet of the value of HMO's, make sure you have your PHELT. This is the cheapest guarantee of a healthy life. 1200 a year and you are safe for a minimum 16K of expenses.

ay ay sorry mas nauna kong nabasa pm mo hehe...

Just pm'ed you my reply..
Sorry mejo natagalan, ni-confirm ko pa hehehe..

For the sake of the readers in this thread, I think mostly naman 500 yung bawas sa philhealth, unless voluntarily ka magdagdag ng hulog sa philhealth (tama ba? o pagibig ata to hehe)

I received an advisory text from Caritas last week saying to claim a free family medical card & gift certificate sponsored and fully paid by Caritas Health Shield Inc. (HMO). I never heard this company and got curious how did I was able to avail this FREE medical card. Out of my curiosity I decided to visit their office located in Palanca Makati this afternoon to inquire regarding the said medical card. Upon arriving at their office there were people hanging around the lobby area. When my turn to approach the person in the lobby he log my personal information, id and the medical claiming number.

Few minutes later a lady approach me and ask to follow her inside a room to discuss the card information. She showed me the free medical card and couple of gift certificate. To my surprise she was already discussing benefits and payment terms of a medical insurance package. Another lady, approach us and discuss yet another medical package. I told both of them I already have my life insurance with sunlife, then they ask me if any of my parents have a medical insurance. I told them I'm planning to have one with my mother (52 yrs old), at this very moment they pulling-out forms, options for me to get one for my mom, at first Gold package will cost me 36+ thousand pesos per annum with one time processing fee of 200 pesos. At first they told me I could avail the medical package this very day with nothing to cash out, I somewhat agree with it thinking i could still consult my mom with this idea. After all the talking the lady ask me to follow her, unaware of the situation I followed her. A clerk personnel then asked for my creditcard to swiped a 36K annual payment  . I did not gave my creditcard and remind the lady that I thought there's no cashing out yet because I still need to decide with my mom if she will agree on the terms. Another lady approached me and computed another package cost of 27+K, yet urged me to pay it because its their last promo day. I decided to swipe my creditcard then they gave me some forms and the receipt. (Deep in me I think I'm in a big trouble agreeing to swipe my card)  :wall:

I immediately left their office and headed back to work. As I arrive on my workstation I googled rightway about caritas and found some online forums with negative feedback about this company.

Did I just made a mistake guys??anyone out there could clear my doubts and share some ideas.
Now I'm confuse if I will cancel the medical insurance at the same time worried about my credit card..
My ignorance just killed me?!  :help: :wall:

how old are you??? Why did you let them swipe your card...??? in my experience  well i could say that you will be in more credits to come to you... good luck to your financial status.... ive never heard or encountered such an insurance company like that.  :harhar: even you cancel the medical insurance you just lost 27K+ because as far as i recall 1:100 or even 1:1000 returned the money after they cancel the insurance.. the worst part is even you get the cash ; its only a partial of the amount that you given to them....  lots of time will be wasted.

Hi graven115.  I Read your message regarding Caritas.  Don't worry, Caritas is a VALID Health Care provider.  I am a card holder myself for 3 years now and was able to avail of the its benefits.   The difference with Caritas compared to other Health Care Provider is ... with Caritas... you only have to pay for 5  years... then after 5 years.. you still get the same benefits w/o any payment. On the 11th year, you still have the money equivalent or around 80% of what you have paid depending on the package you got.

I can't say this is the best provider as i have not tried other Health Cards.  BUT... what I do know... Caritas is the only Health Card providing this kind of service.  With other health cards, you have to pay yearly to avail of the benefits.  Just don't be dismayed if they are quite strict in giving approval for some lab tests.  They are just securing the company.

I suggest you continue your Mom's Caritas Plan.  You will not regret it. :)  since you already paid 1 yr... you only have to pay for 4 more years... and that's it.

I have several friends who have finished paying their Caritas plan, and they are happy that they were able to choose Caritas for their Health Provider.

Thanks for your insights guys!
Sorry I was not able to update this thread. My request to revoke the transaction was granted by the head office (members dep't) of Caritas (E. Rod office) and acknowledged by Makati branch officer. My cc bank cancelled the payment transaction just last June 4, I was grateful they acted on my request promptly.

PhilHealth is definitely a great company to go to since it is so popular and lots of partnerships.  I was told that having multiple insurance plans is recommended to make sure you are covered.  Manulife has a health plan that is great for young people looking to invest.  Got some helpful advice from an Insurance Advisor.  If anyone is interested in it, let me know.  I can hook you up.

Good day forum members,

I am at the age of 68 and need an health insurance. I have already Philhealth, but want additional coverage.

On Facebook I have seen The Primecare cash plan from  Paramount Direct for people from 50 to 75 years old, No waiting period, no medical examination and the rates do not increase with age.

Has someone experience with this provider and this plan ?
