Hi there, I'm just curious about this program.  Anyone who has tried this? Care to share your experiences regarding this program or with CitisecOnline in general? Thanks!

How does this really work and what is the catch?

  • 5K ang initial nila. the succeeding kahit magkano na. but if you're gonna do the EIP. then you should put a regular amount periodically. this is their name for "cost-averaging." your 5k/month would probably buy 2 different stocks. depende sa presyo ng stocks.

in EIP, you need not worry on the ups & downs of the market. i made a simple calculations using excel. to make sure you'll have gains in cost-averaging, it's better to sell (end your EIP) with a higher stock price. or better yet, dahil mahirap i-explain, monitor your EIP. hehe. EIPs are for long term investments btw.

  • It is actually a program integrated in their online transaction that will give you a calendar to remind you when is you scheduled buy for your selected stocks.
As mentioned they have recommendations per particular industry.
    Finance, property,utilities, etc.
They advise to invest in 1 stock per industry only to diversify your portfolio.
But you can invest on the stock of your liking
    ---
Once the date comes you can either buy or cancel your scheduled investment.
Also did an excel of these concept of peso cost averaging using BPI for the past 5 years.

Normal Account would be 25K.  But if you're still a student you can avail of the 5K starting capital.

EIP Account can start from 5K.

  • What do you mean by lock in period?
Once you open an account the amount you placed under your account is for you to use whatever way you like it. Buy it for stocks, get stocks via eip or just let it sit and not do anything.

It is up to you if you plan to buy every month or every quarter or every week. Once the date of your schedule to buy, it just reminds you but it is up to you if you plan to continue or cancel.
If you plan to sell it after a few months then you can do so.
But the eip goal is to invest in the long run. Its just a way to help you remember.

And ibig sabihin ba when you join the EIP, sobrang liit lang ng chance na matatalo ka? How about investing now when there's global crisis? I think the Philippines isn't that much affected anyway. And if it is at the moment, the Fed's doing everything it can so the stocks will most likely go up again. These are just my thoughts. Any comments/feedbacks?

in the long run, stocks from a good company will eventually go up. kung mag eip ka, pili ka nalang dun sa recommended ng COL, kasi pinag aralan at pinag aaralan nila yung mga stocks na yun. that's one of the good things about COL. maraming analysis na sila na ang gumagawa for their clients.

the point of EIP is for a client to regularly save a fixed amount of money, say monthly of 5K. then you'll use that 5k to buy a certain stocks(1 or 2 depending on the price). kunwari, you'll divide 5K into 2. P2500 for stockA, and P2500 for stockB. bumaba o tumaas ang stocks, crisis or economic boom, P2500 pa din for both stocks. after the long term (say, 5yrs, or 10yrs), you'll sell all of your stocks. then that's it. you'll have gains through stock appreaciation, and from dividends from the companies you've bought.

i think open pa din ang 5K for opening an account in COL

Buy a stock with good fundamentals but actively check your investments (know when to cut loss, accumulate, unload). Mahirap magtrade or magtsupit unless may info ka from stock jockeys themselves kung kelan papaliparin (not saying it's impossible but nahirap sya.
