Every month, the PMT Forum honors one outstanding member of the PMT community to be awarded as the "Member of the Month".

Our "Member of the Month" is chosen among members who are seen as consistently active, dependable, insightful, and friendly in the forum. He or she, therefore, may be considered as a genuine role model in our forum community. For us to know better our "Member of the Month," we request our awardee to answer a few questions. Other members of the forum may also post in this thread to ask our MotM questions.

Our March 2015 Member of the Month is
Jayumaster! Congratulations! :yehey:

March 2015 Member of the Month: Jayumaster

1. Hi Jayumaster! How long have you been a PMT Forum member? Share to us how you discovered PinoyMoneyTalk.

- Bago lang po ako. Honestly, without looking it up, I really can't remember. Pause  :watchuthink: Now that I have looked it up, wala pa palang half a year. Just stumbled at the site while looking for some excel spreadsheet for investment compound interest. At haha, wala akong nakita. Pero nagsign-up narin ako dahil nakakatuwa mag-backread  nung mga topics about investment at businesses.

2. Why did you choose the username "Jayumaster"?

- First work at a japanese company competing at kaizen and QC Circles nationwide. Lagi kaming may award at nananalo. My teammates nicked me "Master" Yung Jayu ay Nihonggo of my name "DAW" Sticked ever since.

3. What are your hobbies or special interests?

- Reading. Hoarding small things like a pack rat. Tawag sakin "Siraniko" kasi mahilig magbutingting tapos kapag ibabalik na laging may sobrang mga piyesa, hehe.

4. Tell us something interesting that we don't know about you.

- I have a very huge dream of not letting myself die until makapagtayo ako ng Billion Dollar Financial Literacy and Poverty Alleviation Fund Foundation. Until now I have no idea. Just that dream as my compass pointing to one direction.

5. How is Jayumaster in PMT different from Jayumaster in real life?

- In real life, di moko makikitang nagsasalita kapag di kinakausap. Had inferiority complex since high school.

6. How do you make money? Share to us your sources of income so we can be inspired as well.

- Stopped working. Just my little lending sideline with low interest. Just living below my means. I have investments that I place and forget. Unmanaged Trust accounts. Now my work in advocacy, walang suweldo yon, abunado pa kung minsan. But I'm happy. Yun naman ang goal di po ba?

7. Can you tell us tips or suggestions that guide you in order to succeed financially?

- Haha, I do not consider myself successful yet. But one tip I can give - maintain a diary/journal where you write your events, lessons learned, tips and strategies acquired, pati mga "aha" moments at weird business ideas.
" A goal is not a goal until it is written, it is just a wish."

8. What is your ultimate personal goal that you want to achieve?

- -At this moment nasa Cooperative sector ako.Learning and gathering knowledge.  Next, gusto kong makapagtayo ng General Public Corporation within cities. It is a Corporation pero locally based per municipality/city.
Para yung partnerships sa infrastructure tayo ang makikinabang instead of sourcing it mostly from foreign countries. (Why not invest in our own country diba)
-Lastly my Foundation. Then only then I can say I have fulfilled my duty and purpose in life.

9. If there is one thing you can change about the Philippines, what would it be and why?

10.Your motto or guiding principle in life?

- "How can I serve."

Wait, there's more! Just for the heck of it...

a. Favorite movie?

- The Shawshank Redemption.

b. Favorite song or music genres?

- Gawing langit ang mundo -Siakol. Genre, nothing in particular.

c. Favorite actor/actress?

- I rarely watch TV and movies po kaya parang wala ata.

d. Favorite sports?

- Biking.

e. Beach or Mountain?

- Mountain

f.  Kapuso, Kapamilya or Kapatid?

- Kapayapaan.

g. Mar Roxas or Jejomar Binay?

- I prefer the lesser evil so, none of the above. lol.

h. Money or fame?

- i do not like being in the spotlight. kaya cash na lang.

i. Marry intelligent but ugly person or marry stupid but beautiful person?

- my wife is the most beautiful person I know.  :watchuthink: Seriously, it does not matter. kahit hindi intelligent, medyo harsh naman yung "stupid"

j.  To love or be loved?

- to love, no question.

==========

Thanks and congrats again, Jayumaster!

PMTers, congratulate our March 2015 Member of the Month (MOTM)! If you have questions for our MOTM, fire away!  :applause:

Kapag may regular work, maghapon ubos ang oras. Di kakayanin ang mga advocacies.

Just living below my means. Nakakasurvive naman po with some change to spare for savings. Kaya kong pagkasyahin ang 100 in a day for allowance. Just planting seeds. In time, kapag stable na karamihan sa kanila, I can focus more on my business.

Lahat sila boss mo. Not to mention yung mga nang-iiwan sa ere.

Question na lagi kong naririnig.

Sir Jayumaster,

Ilang taon ka na? Anong advocacy work mo ngayon?

Maganda hangarin mo, may pareho tayong goals (financial literacy at poverty alleviation). Sana magtagumpay ka. By the way, hindi mo kailangan ng billion dollar foundation to do great things. You can start small, stay small, and still do very well.

I tried to start small. Pero parang MLM kasi yan. You need to show them checks and cars and waving money fans. Least bad that happened, mapapagtawanan ka lang or makikipagdiskusyon sayo yung mga mahilig magmarunong at makipagdebate.

Kaya I started to layout a step by step plan. Coops and Associations, then "Pangmasa" Corporation, then that dream Foundation. Gaining knowledge while doing so.

Honestly, I am just a high school grad. MMK style kaya di na dapat balikan. Kaya bukod sa advocacy and volunteerism, I gain knowledge, experience and networks.

Currently, Interim Chairperson of the Board slash Acting General Manager slash acting Executive Officer sa isang newly registered community cooperative. Plan kong magstep down na this next General Assembly to give way at baka mag Gen.

Adviser slash Liason officer slash Manager slash Chairman ng isang mini-corporation of local LPG dealers. (Bulk purchase from plant to take advantage of huge discounts, resulting to lower consumer-end prices) On-going ang registration but semi-operating. Medyo mahirap kumbinsihing gawing 100% legal corporation kasi bago pa. Bukod sa takot sila sa legalities, taxes at regulations dahil inexperienced. Gusto nila testing muna raw and I respected that. Kaya lumalabas parang underground business pa siya. (Operating under one member's business)

Currently an "informal" honorary member ng local women's league (hahaha ako ang muse) Ongoing projects ay increasing membership (mobilization), fund generation, assisting securing free livelihood seminars from the LGU, at isang daunting project in coordination with the CENRO to build a community Material Recovery Facility to become the benchmark for the baranggay, then City. As of now, wala pa akong clear na feasibility study if kakayanin niyang mag-stand magisa without outside funds at magdepend lang sa sariling income para magoperate. Honestly, kulang pa si knowledge.

Just finished hosting the election of the interim officers for a subdivision Homeowners Assn. last year, successful na ang registration nila with HLURB kaya ipinatapon na nila ako. haha. Medyo nagka-conflict dahil namisunderstand nila at napagkamalang may hidden agenda, napulitika and also affecting my relations with them after being discovered as an atheist.. pero okay lang, moving on. :D

Up to now, still conceptualizing on how can I teach investing to poor people.

Still finding a way, goal not yet reached. I gave up preaching my thing because everytime na isisingit ko sa conversations at sa mga projects/seminars/group gatherings ang about sa stock market, UITF, MF at iba  pang topics, all I get are blank stares, side chatting and worse, mga pilosopong maka-kontra lang wagas ang pagkahenyo.

Still looking, or better yet, set them aside for later. thanks for listening to my rants. OT na ata.

Congrats Jm!   "Don't let the universe regret your presence" lang ba yan  :idol:

PS. Don't worry about put out here in your dedicated thread. Free pass, Jm. Enjoy it.

For example: that MRB. Is it going to be a stand alone bldg. or are you going to integrate all other advocacies like recovery of recyclable materials, have them have their own coop, grow some patches of vegetables, reserve the ground floor for commerce so the tenants won't have to brave traffic to do business<----that kind of thing.

Hindi po, pang benchmark lang muna. Will ask for a certain patch of land within the subdivision, about 20-30 sq.m.
The HOA will save money on garbage collection cost dahil liliit ang volume na kukuhain. The savings shall be kept. The sale of recyclables sa mga junk shops will cover salaries of personnel (if sufficient) and the compost gagamitin sa common area garden.  Yun po ang plan. (In the future baka pwedeng pagkakitaan ang compost. Wala pang proper proposal with the HOA. Still planning if feasible. Mahirap sumabak ng walang pondo. Yung building materials baka scrap donations muna.

Sana nga po in the future magawa namin.

As your network grows, mas lumilinaw yung HOW?

^ A man living the basic tenet of most religions: Love thy neighbor. <<<Very ironic.

You know what? You just gave me an idea when you mentioned scrap donations. Tinanong ko sa isang kagawad kung may project sila to collect those kinds of materials. Mahirap daw kasi kailangan ng warehouse at tao to accept and dispense materials. Kanino daw dapat ipamahagi? I'm lowering my aim and ask the baranggay offcials na lang to make a list of organizations to call para sa drop off or pick-up ng mga bagay-bagay na puede pang pakinabangan.

Mabilis po yan, within a week baka may kumuha na.

Thanks!! :thankyou:

Congrats....
like you one of my advocacy is help people out of poverty.
I have a micro lending study which could help people out of poverty. this only requires small amount. if you are interested, i could share my study with you.
keep up the good work.
