Title: Curious about mutual fund
Post by: Dncio1999 on Mar 15, 2014, 04:28 PM
Gusto ko sanang mag open ng mutual fund paguwi ko sa pinas and i can say that im a risk taker so im thinking of going to equity funds maybe. Im a total newbie into this and marami akong nababsa sa mga posting na agdedeposit sila every month sa mutual fund nila, ano ibig sabihin nun? Lets say i have 200,000 pesos to invest na i can keep there for 5 years, kailngan pa ba ako mag lagay ng pera sa fund ko every month? Can somebody explain me the details of opening and how do you manage your fund evry month or everyday? Maraming salamat po and ill really appreciate it kung mabibgyan nyo ako ng ideas.

Good day, actually ang concept ng mutual funds is almost the same with stocks.

Example:
Amount to be invested = 10,000
Navps as of today ( example lang ) = 2 pesos per share
Total shares bought on stated navpu = 5,000 shares

After 5 years umakyat ang navps to 5 pesos per share
Knowing na meron kang 5,000 shares
5,000 shares x 5 = 25,000

So in a span of 5 years ang total kita mo is 15,000.
Pero what if you invested more?

As to the matter on how you place your money is really up to you. One way is to put it lump-sum as in yung buong 200,000 mo is ipasok mo agad in one seating or you could divide it equally in separate instances. Example is 20,000 per month so in a span of 10 months youve deposited the whole 200,000.

Pero I think since you said that your a risk taker and an investor suited for a long term investment. You could place the whole 200,000 and just watch it grow.

You could monitor/manage your fund daily by simply going to the website of which mutual fund you have invested and look if the price of the navps has went up sine the time that you biught your shares. Like in my example above.

If you have any questions feel free to ask :)
