Title: Where to invest funds after retirement?
Post by: proudtobepinoy on Jan 15, 2014, 08:28 PM
Maraming advice and info about where to invest before retirement, but what about after retirement? Where is best to invest to gain current income?
Pwede rin real estate, magparenta ka, pero other than that, do we have other good options? What if you have no knowledge about real estate investing, sa stocks mo pa rin iinvest, in the form of dividend stocks?

the goal in retirement is wealth preservation
whereas before retirement, the goal is wealth accumulation

yup this should be your goal, dapat after retirement is not more on what you can earn but on what you will lose.

I think he meant not actively working - after retirement (sic) dapat yata during retirement.
Anyway food cart needs attention like regular business, same sa agriculture unless rent out mo land mo, which will be like real estate na rin.

Usual option sa Pinas is RE.
Pwede blue chip stocks with dividends. It can be a good option if you have enough stocks to live off the dividends, or sell some regularly for spending money. Kailangan lang your portfolio will outlive you.

dad's been retired for about 14 years now. ok naman sya using just TD and some corporate bonds.  key is enough wealth accumulated and not living too extravagant in retirement. nakakapag-invest pa sya sa RE pero lupa lang, ayaw nya stress ng landlording.

I will invest my hard earned money in government bonds, trust funds, mutual funds and blue chip stocks.

Real estate is the usual option especially rental apartments.

What else mga Ka PMTers?

Low risk investments. If you do not have sufficient retirement funds yet, maybe trying out 20% of your funds can be placed in more riskier ventures.

As a retiree, i guess living within your means would be much more easier. At this moment in your life, you really do not care much about peer pressure.

Ako tlga ang dream job ko in retirement is to be a landlady. Kakatok sa unit every end of the month, maniningil ng paupa, naka daster, naka curlers ang hair, at me hawak na pamaypay na me feather feather. syempre maha high blood sa mga tenants na di makabayad on time.. "BABALE KA NA NAMAN???!"  :hihi: tas mangangapitbahay early in the morning or late in the afternoon habang nagkakape para sumagap ng tsismis sa mga tenants ko. in my free time ay makikipag laro ng mahjong sa aking mga amiga after siesta time.  :applause:

^^ Pasensya na po, na carried away lang.. hihi.. pero I imagine at that time, I would have accumulated enough wealth to generate substantial returns from mutual funds, uitf, and a little on equities. Syempre anjan pa rin ang rental ng real estate, paupahan either accomodations, commercial space or lupang agricultural.
Then maybe to counter boredom, Id have a book cafe at that time, maliit lng, tatauhan ko habang nagbabasa ng mga gusto kong books (sana konti lng ang customer everyday, hihi). Well, small dreams, I hope they wall all be realized in the future.  :D

In my experience mahirap humanap ng government bonds at bills. Minsan kasi inuunahan ka nung mga bigtime banks. If you have a substantial amount, invest a part of it to high yield accounts. contact your bank for their wealth preservation/management accounts. Meron sila nyan, parang TD rin pero widthrawable. The other part, invest on a business na low maintenance at yung gusto mo para hindi ka naman tumanda agad sa pagiging bored. Pagkakaabalahan nalang.
