Title: Best health insurance and life insurance policies
Post by: XanthiaAlysha on Dec 18, 2009, 05:02 PM
What is the best health insurance and life insurance policies? I am recently out of the military and need to purchase an individual health ins policy. However, I am not sure which ones are the best. I am a student, do they offer any good student policies? Also, is the SGLI to VGLI conversion a good change to make? If not, which is better term or whole life insurance policies?

I prefer you to have a term insurance. You may find various difference of whole versus term life insurance in the Google.  :)

term life is renewable and it can be converted to a whole life insurance w/o medical requirements.

whole life is a participating plan which you can earn cash dividends and special investment bonus.

both of them can attach riders

Since you said you're a student, are you under 25yo. If so, why even get a health insurance? Are you sickly? Otherwise, huwag magpa sales talk. Mas sulit ang PhilHealth.

As for life insurance, better get a reputable company with good record. Determine how much coverage you want. Get a term insurance from them with the lowest premium. All other add-on features only add to your premium and are not worth it. Invest the money you saved instead.

in my opinion @wilch23 maybe you have a point but it is better to be prepared for a worst case scenario, and right now if you are not sick then thats good the reason why people willing to invest in their health is that:

1. if you invest it in health insurance and non-smoker even wala ka pa sakit ay o.k yun kasi madali ma approve sa underwriter. anything can happen to us magastos magkasakit. you dont need it now yet but you need it in the future pag nagkasakit ka

2. HMO vs Health insurance
HMO - ang babayaran doctor na accredited, hospital pag na confine ka, check-up kung san accredited at pwede i-enroll yun family mo as beneficiary but the question is how much is the coverage an average HMO per employee min of 200k may 150k pa nga. upto when ang coverage mo? ka pag nasa work ka pa? papanu kung wala ka na trabaho?

HEALTH INSURANCE - if a policy owner na diagnose with critical illnesses, the insurance company will pay the certain policy holder depends kung anu nasa policy na covered na sakit. it also include critical illnesses PLUS optional pag attached ng hosital income benefit. example: na confine ka sa hospital due to unknown sickness min of 3 days and succeeding days jan mag start ang hospital income benefit why 3 days? kasi in first 3 days mo jan magkakaroon ng tests sa patiente. upto when ang coverage nito? WHOLE LIFE.

3. HEALTH INSURANCE can also be savings and guaranteed cash value kung wala kang sakit. while HMO is none

4. HEALTH INSURANCE can also means of income protection if you know what i mean.

so there hope it helps....im a former bank employee and now joining an insurance company. need to know more about this you can message me or PM me will talk more about that :D
