Title: Share Your Tips to Start Freelancing via the Internet
Post by: Cittly on Mar 02, 2015, 10:01 PM
There is a shift taking place in the world of work; work is no longer a place. We have entered into an era where you can have flexibility, better control of your income, career growth and easier access to millions of job opportunities.

How? Many are breaking away from a traditional office setup and turning to freelancing, which we call online work, as an alternative to the 9 to 5. And opportunity is boundless; there were 2.8 million job postings in 2014 alone. If you’re considering taking the plunge and starting a career in online work, what are your tips that will help set you up for success?

Are you an online worker too?

Are you an online worker too?
Yes, I am.

My advice for starters is to choose an online job that best fits them base on their experience if they have. If they don't have an experience, it's okay, there are a lot of entry level jobs out there.

My tip is to start reading books or articles who did this kind of shift. Nowadays, middle class is no longer exists. Its either, you are poor or in a new rich class (people with time and money freedom). However, its not just easy to jump in because most of us must feed our families. You may invest in your self first by education and find your passion. You can start doing it on the side while working full time.

I recommended you to read these books, 4-hour Work Week and Choose Yourself.

Godbless everyone!

Try reading Jomar Hilario's book: "Virtual Careers." I've read it and found the information interesting so you can try reading that (I'm going to do freelance writing+blogging so I won't go the "online professional/assistant/secretary" route).

I agree with that one. Just google "freelance tips" or "best books freelance <job title>" and you'll find answers.

...and you can also post on forums and wait for answers (like what you did here).

Try online marketing jobs mam like PPC Specialist or Search Engine Optimisation specialist.

First step is to search about those 2 jobs online (not job postings itself ha, about the PPC and SEO topics) :D

About search engines kasi sya.

Goodluck mam

I started my freelance by reading many articles about “from idea to realization” My main secret is that I can work from any location using my mobile. My phone are complete staffed by different programs. The best my is PDF data. I found it on http://www.raritysoft.com/reviews/powerful-tool-for-creating-and-editing-pdf-files. And many other apps, which are checked by antivirus. Really useful thing! I always can get different information I need. Be always in touch - this is one of the important things in freelance world)) Good luck!

Hmm, well to be honest ah pag freelance ay both masaya and mahirap kung baga nasa diskarte mo na kung pano mo ihahandle ang freelance but one of the best advice I can give you is to love your freelance job as if it's your office job, piliin mo yung sa tingin mo pang mataggalan and yung hindi bogus. Then, make sure you have proper internet connect at home, you have a comfortable work area and of course set up an account where you want to get your salary.

Hi Hopialikeit, I don't think saturated na ang freelance job market. If you check upwork.com, sobrang daming ads. You just need to assess yourself to determine what skills you can offer. In my case, I'm a virtual assistant (VA). I do admin tasks like research, reports, email management, etc. I'm sure you also have a unique skill set to offer.

While freelancing for somebody else, you should also work for yourself on the side. Freelancing and blogging can be done with time management. You can share your experience in freelancing through your blog which then can be monetized later on.

This is a nice idea. Earning money through freelancing by means of sharing your experience as a freelance. :hihi: Perhaps, you'll need to be a veteran in this field first.

If you want to gain experience, consider applying for office-based job first. Companies like Onehalf Staffing Solutions is a great place to learn and grow. Here's their website: http://onehalf.net.au/

Freelancing isn't so easy I think. But it's easy for someone who knows at least how to work with the computer. When I started I didn't have any experience. But with the passage of time everything is okey.

I would advise anyone aspiring to work online to begin by acquiring all the necessary information pertaining to online work. If you can find a trustworthy mentor, the better for you. It's all about your passion, zeal and patience. Go for a niche that best suits you, whether it is just something you are passionate about like writing, or something you have studied like Programming

Begining a career as an online worker is not difficult, though it's also not a bed of roses, since you have to start from down. You may not be able to start earning online that can sustain you, so you can start as a part time freelancer before finally going full-time. If you continue offering high-quality services to your clients, then you can be sure to have them coming back and even bringing you other clients as well
