Here we announce the official holidays in the Philippines for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010, incorporating the provisions of Republic Act 9492 or “An Act Rationalizing the Celebration of National Holidays”.

A. Regular Holidays
- Araw ng Kagitingan – April 6 (Monday), in lieu of April 9 (Thursday)
- Maundy Thursday / Good Friday – April 9 / 10 (Thursday / Friday)
- Labor Day – May 1 (Friday), will not be moved
- Independence Day – June 12 (Friday), will not be moved
- National Heroes Day – August 31 (Monday)
- Bonifacio Day – November 30 (Monday)
- Christmas Day – December 25 (Friday)
- Rizal Day – December 30 (Wednesday), will not be moved
B. Special (non-working) holidays
- Ninoy Aquino Day – August 21 (Friday), will not be moved
- All Saints’ Day – November 1 (Sunday)
- All Souls’ Day – November 2 (Monday)
- Christmas Eve – December 24 (Thursday)
- New Year’s Eve – December 31 (Thursday)
Update February 16, 2009: Malacanang announced today that the anniversary of People Power on February 25, 2009 Wednesday, is NOT a holiday:
Update February 19, 2009:According to Malacanang, February 23, Monday, is a working holiday. Students will have NO CLASSES but workers and employees are still required to work.

A. Regular Holidays 2008
- Maundy Thursday / Good Friday – March 20 / 21 (Thursday / Friday)
- Araw ng Kagitingan – April 7 (Monday), in lieu of April 9
- Labor Day – May 1 (Thursday), will not be moved
- Independence Day – June 9 (Monday), in lieu of June 12
- National Heroes Day – August 25 (Monday), last Monday of August
- Bonifacio Day – December 1 (Monday), in lieu of November 30
- Christmas Day – December 25 (Thursday)
- Rizal Day – December 30 (Tuesday), will not be moved
B. Special (non-working) holidays 2008
- Ninoy Aquino Day – August 18 (Monday), in lieu of August 21
- All Saints’ Day – November 1 (Saturday)
- Additional Special Non-Working Holiday – December 26 (Friday)
- Additional Special Non-Working Holiday – December 29 (Monday)
- Last Day of the Year (Special Holiday) – December 31(Wednesday)
Update: The observance of Eid al Fit’r will be on October 1, 2008, Wednesday.
UPDATE: January 2, 2009 has been officially declared a special, non-working holiday.

Note that December 24 is almost always made into a holiday (or at least a half-day working day), December 25 is Christmas Day, December 26 is a special non-working day, December 27 and 28 are weekends, December 29 is again a special non-working day, December 30 is Rizal Day, December 31 is a special holiday, January 1 is New Year, January 2 has just been declared a non-working holiday, while January 3 and 4 are weekends — which means the Christmas season is going to be a 12-day holiday for most people!
No work, just play from December 24, 2008 until January 4, 2009. See you at work on January 5!

Hi,
Just want to ask why EDSA People Power Anniversary is holiday only for schools and why not in private sector? Does it mean that only students will celebrate there freedom instead of whole nation. Last year this was not declared as holiday, does it mean also that weather weather lang and pag celebrate ng EDSA People Power?

hey, why are we not celebrating the EDSA People Power Anniversary?? it happened in february 25th 1986, then why not declaring february 25th this year as a NON-WORKING holiday to all….
Goshhh…. come on! hope its holiday… please…please…. it would be unfair…
