How to earn more Paypal referral bonus
May 1, 2008
We’ve mentioned before that it’s possible to earn by referring people to Paypal. When they sign up using your referral link, you receive an initial bonus of $1.00 when your Referred Merchant has received a total of $200.00. In addition, you get 0.5% of the total amount of their payments up to $1,000 for 12 months.
In our case, we’ve already received around $30 bonus from Paypal in March until early April. Screenshot below.
How can you promote Paypal and get more referral bonuses? Here are three tips.
Which Paypal account is best: Personal vs. Premier vs. Business account?
March 14, 2008
You’ve already signed up for a Paypal account but have still not decided which type to use. Read more to discover what type of Paypal account suits you best.
There are three types of Paypal accounts: Personal, Premier, and Business.
Personal accounts are, obviously, for the personal use of individuals. They can accept up to five (5) credit or debit card funded payments per year and are assessed a transaction fee. Other payments received are not charged a fee.
Premier accounts are for members who have a high transaction volume or would like to access Paypal’s Core and Premium features (explained below). Premier accounts may operate under an individual name. Unlike Personal Accounts, they can accept an unlimited number of credit or debit card payments. However, all payments received are charged a certain fee. (Paypal’s fee schedule here.)
Business accounts are for businesses, allowing them to operate under a company or group name and accept payment from customers without PayPal accounts. Like Premier accounts, they can accept an unlimited number of credit and debit card payments, although all payments they receive are charged a certain fee.
Withdraw PayPal to bank accounts in Philippines
January 26, 2008
Pinoy Money Talk is one of the first, probably the very first, to break this news to the blogosphere but expect other sites and blogs to write about this without giving us credit although they got the news from us. LOL.

Anyway, brace yourself:
Effective yesterday, PayPal started allowing users in the Philippines to withdraw funds to local bank accounts.
Yup, it’s confirmed. Log in to your PayPal account and see that in the My Account > Withdraw page, you now have an option to directly transfer funds from your PayPal account to your bank account in the Philippines.

Once your Referred Merchant has used PayPal to receive a total of $200.00, you immediately receive an initial bonus of $1.00.
In addition, you will get 0.5% of the total amount of their payments for 12 months, up to $1,000.

How do you start referring new users to PayPal?
PayPal discourages phone calls to get Expanded Use Number
November 23, 2007
The Expanded Use or EXPUSE Number is a requirement to lift the $100 sending limit in PayPal.
Those who paid the $1.95 Expanded Use fee via credit card can normally get the EXPUSE Number on their billing statement the next month.
Those who used debit cards, however, need to call their card issuer to get the EXPUSE Number, as in the case of UnionBank EON CyberAccount or eWallet users.
But PayPal “strongly discourages” this policy of contacting card companies to get the Number, as seen in the following note from the PayPal website.

PayPal’s note reads:
PayPal strongly discourages customers from calling their credit card companies in order to obtain PayPal Expanded Use Numbers. If PayPal receives a complaint from Visa, MasterCard, or your card issuer about a phone call made to obtain PayPal Expanded Use Numbers, the complaint will be investigated. As a result, your PayPal account may be closed. Please check for your Expanded Use Number on your online credit card statement (monthly transaction history) or when you receive it in the mail. It may take up to 3-4 business days for the number to appear on your statement.
If PayPal already explicitly announced its dislike of the method, why do card issuers like UnionBank still do this?
Other way to convert PayPal to cash? Sell it
November 8, 2007
We’ve already outlined here how to withdraw PayPal in the Philippines and we also have a bustling discussion here of the details of these withdrawal methods.
Almost all of these ways, however, incur a certain amount of transaction fee, for example, the $5 that PayPal charges whenever you make a transfer to your local debit or credit card. At times, you also lose on the exchange rate because the banks’ rates are often lower.
So is there an alternative way to convert PayPal funds to cash without incurring a lot of fees and without losing on the exchange rate?
Yes, by selling your PayPal funds.

Step-by-step guide to withdraw PayPal to UnionBank EON account
October 30, 2007
Finally, my own story of a successful PayPal withdrawal.
On October 19, I requested a withdrawal of $73.55 worth of PayPal funds to my UnionBank EON account. On October 21, PayPal marked the transaction as “Completed” and two days later, the peso equivalent showed up in my EON account. All in all, the withdrawal request took 4 calendar days.
According to UnionBank’s Customer Support, PayPal funds received from merchants — those received from eBay buyers, for instance — usually take up to 11 calendar days before they are transferred to the UnionBank account.
However, normal PayPal transfers — that is, transfer of PayPal balance (not credit card funds) from one person to another — may only take 1-2 calendar days.
That explains why several withdrawal requests in the past had varying processing times. PMT member Biske withdrew PayPal funds on October 13 and received the cash four days later. Another member, jerometurner, got the funds after three banking days. Member smile experienced the fastest PayPal-to-UnionBank transfer; cash was transferred to the bank account after only one day.
To those who plan to withdraw and transfer PayPal to their UnionBank accounts, here is a step-by-step guide to do just that.
PayPal Philippines FAQ
October 18, 2006
Here are frequently asked questions related to PayPal Philippines and PayPal accounts in general.
Can I receive and send funds with my PayPal Philippines account?
Your PayPal Philippines account is a limited, send-only PayPal account. You absolutely have NO ABILITY at the moment to receive any funds and you can send funds only after you have attached a valid credit card to your PayPal account. You can’t also fund your account. When making an online purchase using PayPal, PayPal will automatically charge your credit card with the transaction amount.
More explanation and discussion of these limited functions can be found in the Finally, PayPal Philippines is here! thread in the PMT Forum and the When purchasing online, which is better: send-only PayPal Philippines account or credit card? article.
Why does my PayPal account have only send capabilities?
PayPal’s explanation: Due to the complexities of global finance, members in certain countries and regions need to meet criteria to fully utilize our system, but this is not a reflection on the customer. PayPal is constantly working to expand and improve services for our customers. We hope to expand our features for these countries and regions, but we cannot give a timetable for this expansion.
To expedite the offering of full PayPal services, the Philippines has a critical job of convincing PayPal that appropriate banking regulations and legislation related to money laundering, online fraud, and identity theft are in place and strictly implemented. Everyone is therefore compelled to act. PayPal Philippines customers, banks, legislators, and regulatory agencies, among others, must do their share to show PayPal that the country adheres to the accepted rules of global finance.
