Contest: Share content and win $5,000

June 3, 2008

One more way to make money online is to join online contests. Aside from the fact that they usually don’t cost anything to be able to join, some contests offer large prizes — just like this one I found today.

Content sharing website Associated Content is offering $5,000 top prize to the person who can submit any text, audio, or video content that is deemed an upcoming breakthrough.

The general theme is “What’s Next?” and the topic can be a person, a destination, an event, a technology, a trend, or a “how-to” — basically, any unique topic that might break through with people in a new way in the coming year.

From 0 to $1k in 90 days (An online earning challenge)

May 29, 2008

It is not impossible to earn at least $1,000 every month. A lot of people have already proven that.

But is it possible for someone who does not have a credit card, is not willing to shell out a substantial amount of money, and has only minimum knowledge of the internet to go from zero to $1,000 online earnings a month in just under 90 days?

Are site traffic and pageviews directly related to income?

May 9, 2008

The formula, they say, to successfully make money from a website or blog is Quality Content + Traffic.

A lot of “make money online” experts — the true gurus and fakes alike — claim that fresh, unique, and high-quality content translates to traffic and traffic ultimately equals online income. By now, it probably is an accepted fact that a website with more visitors will earn more than another site with fewer visitors.

But how related exactly are site traffic and pageviews to the advertising income of a site?

Are your Adsense earnings lower than usual today?

May 7, 2008

And the page impressions and clicks statistics don’t seem to be updated?

Earlier today, PMT Forum member geeks noted the same thing. He wondered: Mukhang may problema sa adsense ngayon, hindi naga-update impresions ko. (Adsense seems to have a problem, my page impressions stats don’t appear to be updated.)

Don’t fret. Apparently, Google Adsense is aware that there is a problem.

Widgetbucks drops $25 signup bonus, lowers referral commission

January 9, 2008

Is Widgetbucks trying to be more efficient or are they on the way down?

Widgetbucks recently announced that, effective January 15, they are getting rid of the $25 signup bonus offered to members who register. That means new Widgetbucks publishers need to work harder in order to reach the $50 minimum payout.

The referral structure has also been lowered from 10% to 5% effective January 15. Widgetbucks, however, stressed that the lower referral commission affects only newly created accounts and not existing accounts.

Without a doubt, these changes are attempts by Widgetbucks to increase efficiency and eventually generate profit. Can they rise up to the competition or will they go down the AGLOCO way?

Are Widgetbucks’s days already numbered?

Widgetbucks’ advertisers don’t like traffic from the Philippines

December 19, 2007

It’s official. Traffic and clicks on Widgetbucks ads coming from the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, China, Egypt, and Romania are not credited and will not be paid.

That’s according to a post in the official blog of Widgetbucks:

What are the non-paying countries or regions?

We are finding that advertisers are not willing to buy traffic from Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, China, Egypt, and Romania.

It’s really important to mention this is an advertiser decision regarding the value of that traffic, NOT WidgetBucks’ decision. We repeat: this is an advertiser decision regarding the value of that traffic, NOT WidgetBucks’ decision. I emphasize this because publishers, for whatever reason, will undoubtedly and incorrectly draw the conclusion it is solely WidgetBucks’ decision.

New Adsense ad format spotted again

December 17, 2007

It was just a few days ago when we spotted a new format for ad units that Google Adsense was testing. It included a new feature called the ad scroller or ad slider that lets site users navigate through the ads using the Up, Down, Left, or Right arrows (screenshot in the link above).

A few minutes ago, we spotted again here on our site a new ad format that Adsense might be testing. This latest format includes four (4) units of Button ads (125 x 125) — two (2) units placed side by side and two (2) more below it.

Pic of the new ad format below.

Google Adsense is testing a new ad format that includes 4 Buttons ads.

The new format is a welcome deviation from the traditional ad formats that Adsense has long been using. But the question is, can it increase the click-through-rate (CTR) of the ads?

How Pinoys earn money online

February 22, 2007

How do Filipinos earn money online? Let us count the ways.

  • 1. Google Adsense, etc.

How Filipinos earn money online The most basic way to make money online is to own a site or blog and monetize it by having advertising networks serve ads to the site. Learn how to start a blog here then pepper it with content. The more content, the better. Once you have a decent number of posts, join any of the popular advertising networks Google Adsense, Bidvertiser, and AdBrite. They will give you snippets of codes that you have to add to your sites in order to show the ads. When visitors click on the ads, you get paid. Know the basics of Google Adsense here or share how much you are earning from it by posting in the Google Adsense Earnings Survey thread.

  • 2. Selling Ad Space

Some Filipino website owners offer customized packages and lease advertising space directly to advertisers. You need to have valuable and frequently updated content, however, and consistent traffic in order to attract advertisers.

Most of the time, Pinoy publishers merely join ad networks where they sell their ad space. Upon signing up, these networks provide links that are to be posted in the blog or site in order to receive payment. A few examples of these networks include Blog to Profit, Money4Blogs, Chitika, Crisp Ads, grokAds, Tagword, and Text Link Ads.

  • 3. Paid Blogging

Rather than write mushy, self-centric, or showbiz-crazed stuff, a few Pinoy writer-bloggers use their creative juices to publish short reviews of a product, website, or service. Of course, they get paid in the process. Two of the popular sites where you can become a paid blogger are ReviewMe and PayPerPost.

  • 4. Paid Outsourced Service (Content writing, programming, web design, SEO services)

Several Filipinos hang out in sites like Rent-a-Coder, Scriptlance, Getafreelancer, and eLance to offer programming, content writing, web design, or search engine optimization (SEO) services for a fee. Competition among fellow for-hires, though, is tough but once a good reputation is built, clients will ultimately follow. Learn how some PMT members are successfully earning as home-based freelancers in the Freelancers and Home-Based Workers board in the forum.

  • 5. Affiliate Marketing

Sell someone else’s products and earn commissions for every lead or sale. A few have found luck earning regular income as affiliates of Commission Junction, LinkShare, ShareaSale, and previously Clickbank. Discuss strategies with other Pinoy affiliate marketers in the Internet and Affiliate Marketing board.

  • 6. Online Selling

The bustling activity in eBay.ph, Auction.ph and Bidshot.com is a testament to the growing number of Filipino sellers. Sell your stuff by posting in eBay, transforming a Multiply account into an online shop, or setting up a full-fledged e-commerce site. Drop by the Online Auctions, Selling and Dropshipping board for more stories of Pinoys in the online selling arena.

  • 7. HYIP and Autosurf Investing

If you are the gambler type, “investing” in autosurf or high yield investment programs (HYIP) might be for you. For a short period of time, you can earn double, triple, or even 10,000 times your principal without doing anything or, at the most, “autosurfing” other people’s websites. Beware, though, because 99% of these online “investment” programs are scams.

  • 8. Get-paid-to (GPT) Programs

Not a lot of income can be expected here, but absolutely no cash outlay is needed either. Earn a few cents after several minutes (sometimes hours) of clicking links and reading advertisement emails. To meet fellow GPTers, go to the Free-to-Join Get-Paid-To Programs or visit the GPT Programs Discussion board to access a list of programs that are currently paying.

Here are some more stories of how Pinoys earn money online.
