PMT hit by “typhoon” during the weekend
October 4, 2006
A different kind of typhoon battered the PinoyMoneyTalk.com site during the weekend, but it was not the same typhoon that ravaged several countries in the region. The site was down for several hours and at times that it loaded, posting in the forum took longer than the usual.
That "typhoon," however, was brought about by several factors. First on the list, PMT's continuous growth finally took its toll on the site resources. The allowed memory usage and CPU load for the site exceeded its limit several times during the weekend causing a shutdown of the PMT server. At the same time, the site host conducted server maintenance that further strained the site resources and led to multiple resets of the server. Also add to that is the (unending) site attack PMT receives from unknown hackers and DDoS attackers everyday.
Anyway, it looks like PMT has weathered the storm — the site is now back up and posting in the PMT Forum has resumed to normal. We will however continue to monitor activity within the site. Please bear with us should downtimes and other problems occur.
Thank you.
