Is the end of e-gold near?
May 2, 2007
A US Federal Grand Jury indicted last week e-gold Ltd. and Gold & Silver Reserve, Inc. on charges of money laundering, operating an unlicensed money transmitter business, and conspiracies to commit both offenses.
The US government has either seized or frozen the funds of large e-currency exchangers such as 1mdc, Icegold, and AnyGoldNow, among others.
Several e-gold users are having problems accessing their e-gold accounts.
Is the end of e-gold near?
No, err, not yet.
e-gold founder and chairman Douglas Jackson has recently issued a strongly-worded reply to the US government's accusation denying any wrongdoing.
Icegold and AnyGoldNow are back in business transacting e-gold.
And more and more e-gold users are reporting that they are now able to access their accounts.
So is the end of e-gold near?
I don't know. Douglas Jackson doesn't know. e-gold users don't know. What we know: we just have to wait and see.
