In the Philippines, FamilyMart is owned by Philippine FamilyMart CVS. This company is a joint venture of four companies, including the original FamilyMart parent company from Japan, Itochu Corp., Rustan’s SSI Group Inc., and Ayala Land Inc (ALI).

FamilyMart opened its first store in the Philippines on April 2013 and now has 65 branches, with a target to reach 100 by year-end. The company plans to open 700-800 stores nationwide by 2018.

Franchise Fee and Total Investment

The franchise fee of a Family Mart outlet ranges from P4 million to P8 million depending on the store layout and location.

Estimated payback period of the franchise investment is said to be between four (4) and six (6) years.

Franchise Inclusions

The franchise package typically includes the following:

  • Operational rights of the store
  • Leasehold improvements
  • Equipment
  • Initial merchandise inventory
  • Contingency fee

Once approved, franchisees go through a four-week intensive training through a full-time program that involves classroom and hands-on in-store training.

FamilyMart’s franchise support not only includes set-up, store opening and staff training stages, but also includes assistance through various channels such as distribution center, computerized system, area manager’s assistance, system-wide marketing campaign, branding rights, and product development.

Franchisee Eligibility

  • At least 25 years old
  • College graduate
  • Capable of funding the investment through personal capacity or financing from any banking institution

Application Process

The franchise applicant undergoes a series of location market studies, reviews of contract, and interviews. Once approved, the franchise fee is paid and the training commences.
