Ouch! I think I could have gone up the corporate ladder by avoiding critical situations(iwas sa trabaho na delikado/mahirap) and by walking around the office looking presentable and knowledgeable kesa sa mga ibang engineer na mukang tambay ng Cubao.

ganito.... what I'm saying is that mas importante yung alam at kaya mo. pero kailangan mo rin ng diploma to comply kasi formal requirement yun. sign din yun na kaya mong tumupad ng mga requirements. pero nga kasi meron talagang tao na kahit may diploma ewan ko kung paano pumasa. so therefore importante ang diploma.

pero sana naman marunong yang nabigyan ng diploma at hindi lang nan-chicks/cats nung nag-aaral. pwede naman gawin yun ng sabay bakit ba hinde? may syota ka na, may diploma ka na, may alam ka pa why limit yourself?

For a business person - uhmm.. 0 % ? Actually, you need not have a diploma, as long as meron ka nang skills at capital to handle the business. Yun iba ko kasing kakilala 3rd year college yun inabot or graduating na, nag-tayo na lang ng business. Babalikan na lang daw yun course nila pag OK na. So far, ok naman sila in life, if not better. I'm not saying wag nang magtapos ng pag-aaral ha, but it depends kung anong career ka masaya. Meron kasing iba mas masaya sa negosyo, yun iba naman lalo na pag medicine or law ang tinapos sobrang OK. Yun iba naman nagtatyaga na lang sa 10k a month, not to discourage yun mga graduate ng IT or comsci pero sa sobrang dami ng competition mahirap makahanap ng trabaho na competitive din yung sweldo. Just my observation.

Yes IT/comsci work would usually require a diploma, but nagtaka lang ako bakit special mention sila? Sa kanila din ba ang salary na 10k entry? Di nga, ganun nb ngayon? Saan ka nag-aapply?

In any work, if you want a competitive package/salary, your skills have to be competitive as well.

^marami kasi akong kakilala na graduate ng IT and comsci, mostly friends who hailed from lesser known BUT quality schools naman. Since pinalad naman ako na makapag-aral sa UP, I didn't suffer such fate. They all start with more or less 10-12k per month, compared sa mga kakilala ko na Econ or Business Ad ang course.. and no, I'm not a comsci graduate nor am I earning such amount. Nakakalungkot lang isipin na nasasayang ang talent ng marami dahil na rin sa oversaturation ng field of expertise, in this case, sa mga friends and acquaintances ko. In my case, I have a net income of 60k a month, dahil na rin siguro konti lang ang may field of expertise ko. Kahit sa work, supply and demand really matters. Kahit may diploma, kung saturated na yun field, mahirap.

Eto lang ang scenario na palagay ko hindi importante ang diploma, at hindi rin kailangan. You do not ever, ever intend to have a boss, of any kind, ever. And even if you did happen to have a boss later on, it will be by choice, and only on paper.

Even if you are a person with a "gift"---about 10% of the human population lang siguro, it will take a discerning boss to pick you out and make you shine, putting aside the fact that you don't have paper qualification. Maski may diploma ka pero nasa maling field ka naman, you have better chances of getting in sa tamang lugar mo. Kasi for most people who hire people, a diploma represents a certain trait---fortitude, sticktoitiveness, perseverance, a certain kind of smarts pertaining to a wider horizon. It indicates a kind of understanding of how people think and operate. It might indicate a lemming mentality, but hey, last time I checked, yes--- a diploma is still very important.

Seriously, I do believe it is more importan than not to have a diploma. Although it is not an assurance but it's still an edge towards success. Those succeeded people w/out diploma are just isolated cases...

Nagawan naman ng paraan para ma-photocopy... Sa probinsya kasi talaga uso ang pinapa-laminate ang diploma na nakalagay pa sa wooden frame. With matching ID pic pa yan na kasama... hehehe
