A nice location will be near a tertiary hosp or a busy market (especially near jeepney terminals) because to will be competing with lots of pharmacies that's been there already. Senior citizen discount is another problem. They will ask from you 20% where in fact you will just sell a drug/medicine will just a 7 to 8% mark- up from the catalogue price. That means you will have an outright losses of up to 12 to 13% especially if you are just planning to set up a medium- size drugstore.

Its also important to give your customers the impression that you are selling a drug/medicine at a reasonable price. There are lots of distibutors available. Find the one that gives a best deal i.e. 5+1, 30 days PDC, etc.

Thanks for the info walrus,
Does one have to have any specific qualification, like pharmacist license?
And why would they give you 25k worth of free meds if you only paid 3.5K?
Yeah, I saw this program on Living Asia channel.

One does not have to be a pharmacist to become an operator of Botika ng Barangay (if I understand them right).

The P3,500 fee they require is inclusive of the business permit and, as i've been told, for the "Supervising Pharmacist" (whatever that means).

The "free" P25k worth of generics drugs as initial inventory is, for my understanding, their way of "public service" (if you know or understand what I mean).
