  • Ano pong dapat gawin pag may hypertension?

Change lifestyle daw. Low salt diet should be maintained. And the usual "exercise" pero this is to prevent daw ha?

  • Huwag palaging magagalit at maiinis. Learn to forgive. Its not worth it ang mga troubles sa buhay. Life is short. Always remember that life is more important kesa sa mga bagay na trivial... Value your health more than your wealth!  :applause:

Exercise is also good pero you have to consult your doctor first.

Eat oatmeal in the morning. If you can try eating a clove of garlic. :yuck: Pwede mo din siyang pigain sa kalamansi juice another option is to use ginger instead of garlic.

Where you checked by a doctor? Kaya once nandun lang kami for the free check-up naconfine na sya. You know how some hospitals work here. Ang daming iniresetang gamot yun tuloy inabot kami ng 4 days kasi lagi sya nalulula kasi sobrang baba ng BP nya which is worse than high BP. What best is to have it check again by your doctor several times during the consultation para medyo kampante ka na. Even the aspirin which is given to those of advance age eh tinanggal na kasi maraming side effects provided na igive-up nya ang chicharon, bagooong at alamang.

Parang ang gulo no?

  • annanymous,
I can connect you to a very popular doctor. He's Dr Romulo De Villa, PhD and he conducts free consultations in our office in Makati and Ortigas. He's a nutritionist and Molecular Oncologist. Just send me a private message for us to schedule an appointment.

But for immediate help, one way to reduce blood pressure is to minimize salt intake. Another is to have enough (8 hours) sleep and to reduce stress.

  • ^Salamat Jazon! Thank you uli. :)

  • Ideally you should see a cardiologist, but most cardiologists were trained to recommend drugs (which can harm your father) so a doctor/nutritionist can help.

We need to set up an appointment before you can go to the place, so we should schedule about 2 weeks before the set time and place.

  • My dad is also hypertensive. In fact, he already had his first heart-attack. Thank God he was given another chance at life.

And by this, I mean a balance of aerobic and anaerobic exercises. Diets and drugs just aren't enough when you already have a chronic disease like hypertension. You have to couple it with a healthy lifestyle. :)

You can encourage your dad to join a local sportsclub, like maybe badminton. My dad, since his first heart attack, has taken up table tennis and lawn tennis. Or take up jogging every once in a while with a friend. Ang kagandahan kasi ng nasa sports club nakaka-enganyo kasi marami kang kasama, plus you make new friends. So far, my dad is doing good. Of course he still takes his medication and cooks his own meals (so he has good control of the sodium and calories) importante pa rin yun.

It is also well to consult with a physician to get the all-clear before your dad can get into such activities. Start light, then you can pick up your pace from there.

    Good luck! :)

must be the meds. kasi ang pagbaba daw ng BP level ay dapat gradual.  even a sudden 20mm Hg can cause dizzines and fainting and even worse kahit mataas pa rin sa normal ang reading. this is why meds should be given first in low dosage saka na lang itataas after several days.

Ideally you should see a cardiologist, but most cardiologists were trained to recommend drugs (which can harm your father) so a doctor/nutritionist can help.

You are so right. Yun cardio ni mama ang dami meds na ibinibigay lalong lang syang nahirapan kaya papalit-palit lang ng gamot parang trial and error lang ang ginagawa. buti na lang at may mga reliable websites like yun sa mayo clinic.  pero i first get the cardios permission to take her off the meds which is also done gradually to check kung kayang iregulate yun bp nya without taking meds. fortunately, her bp level normalize kasi di naman pala sya hypertensive talaga. hirap kasi sa ibang doctor nagrerely lang sa present lab results kaya mali ang diagnosis.   :hmmph:
