GSIS Mutual Fund
« on: Jun 04, 2007, 11:40 AM »
Any significant information regarding the GSIS Kinabukasan balanced funds? This balanced fund has been performing tremendously well, even outperforming top equity mutual funds by posting terrific yields.  I am a bit wary though in placing some of my investments here for a number of reasons.

Is it safe and wise to invest here (balanced funds category)?

yes, if your time horizon is 2 years to 5 you get the best returns.

^notwithstanding the fact that it is affiliated with a government agency (GSIS)? Would it be easy to redeem it in the future?

How do you apply or invest in the GSIS kinabukasan fund?

Yup, I've invested with them lately. GSIS Kinabukasan was not performing really well not until the PAMI team handled it. And now it's flourishing and that is one of the reasons why I trusted my investment with them.

Is there a holding period for this balanced fund? Or is the 2 year holding period optional?

The 2-yr time horizon rainmen mentioned? Yes, that's optional. Wala namang holding period ang mutual funds. There's just an exit fee being charged if you withdraw within a certain period. If you redeem past two years, wala nang exit fee.

^Thanks:)

Have you invested in the GSIS balanced funds? I'm currently deciding now on whether to invest in First Metro's newly-opened balanced funds or the GSIS kinabukasan fund.

I'm just wondering about the 2.5% fee charged by the GSIS kinabukasan fund which is much higher than the usual 2% fee charged by other mutual fund companies for the P5,000-P100,000 category. The disparity is quite significant. Also, I'm also quite apprehensive since the name GSIS is affiliated with it knowing how a typical government agency works.

Nope, I don't have an investment with GSIS Kinabukasan. I believe the 2.5% fee is for investments of P5,000 and below. For amounts above P5,000, fee is 2%, graduating lower for higher investment amounts. Unless nabago na nga.

If you want to invest in GSIS Kinabukasan MF
which is manage by Philam, you can go direct to
5th Floor Salustiana D. Ty Tower
104 Paseo de Roxas, Makati City
and look for Mr. Alfonso Quitangon

Question...  does the GSIS... (the government institution) have anything to do with the way this fund is managed?

No, they (government) have nothing to do regarding the management of the funds.
It is manage by Philam Asset Management, Inc. (PAMI)

anybody here who has invested in gsis kinabukasan fund (balanced fund) which is being managed by philam? i don't see that much reviews in here kasi. it has a lower minimum investment (P5,000 only and only P1,000 for gsis members. minimum additional investments: P500) and lower entry and exit fees as compared to philam fund inc. but is performing better than the latter.
