What are you investing/saving for?
« on: May 23, 2007, 03:34 AM »
Whether it be your dream house, a business or your children's education, I know we are all making our money grow for different reasons. We all have different goals, but do all of us have that? A Goal for each investment? Or do some of us just invest because we have the extra moolah? Do we always have to have a reason for investing or is making our capital grow reason enough? Share us your thoughts!

Among others, a wedding. :) Basta yan yung sana pinaka-immediate. A house also, kasama sa plans.

As of the moment, a trip for 4 to Hong Kong, 5 days/4 nights, no shopping, just eating and sightseeing.

Although I have already hit my target of retiring way too early (in my 30s) from being a typical 9-5 employee with a nice house & regular travels, I wouldn't be a hypocrite and of course I would still want to make more and more money....perhaps to at least maintain my current comfort level and moreso of course to become rich as I still DON'T consider myself rich. We all love more luxuries in life and at the same time donate to our favorite charities.

And NOW "Non-Directional" Forex Trading is definitely doing that superb job for me after my years of $ cost averaging in diversified Global MFs & stocks. Once again don't get me wrong because I still DON'T consider myself rich. I guess ganyan yata talaga ang buhay, once you hit a certain target you always want more.  :D

everyone seems to be saving for a house :) i guess that's really one of our common goals

oh btw, could everyone also share what instrument they use in saving for that goal of yours?

@nailbiter: invited ba kami?  :applause:
@mike qc : wow. i also have that dream, to retire in my 30s. would you mind sharing how many years you did the dollar cost averaging in diversified Global MFs & stocks to reach that current status of yours?

it's so true. once we hit a certain a target we always wants more. well, i guess that's the thing that makes us human.   :hihi:

I started investing diligently in USA & Intl MFs in 1993 on a monthly basis regardless of the market's direction. And that's almost 11 years straight of religiously compounding and dollar cost averaging starting with $2,000 & $2,500 then subsequently $50 and $100 a month per mutual fund category and sector out of my own salary each month. I also got some few favorite stocks as well. My efforts, patience and perseverance have indeed paid off and many thanks to all those great Funds Managers of Fidelity, Janus, Templeton, Vanguard, T.Rowe Price, Smith Barney, Oppenheimer and more to mention. Such a great relief from my previous typical routine and New York City life's hustle and bustle. Now I have all the time of my life for my family and of course to do whatever I wanna do. Now I'm having fun trading foreign currencies on my own and thanks to Freedom Rocks which actually got me into this Forex Trading "hedging" thing. How I wish I learned about this during that time as well and I would have retired even in my 20's hahaha LOL. :cool2:

I am saving and hopefully investing most profitably without risks in order that when I am already in my last years and can't move around but even must stay in bed, I will have people surrounding me who will wipe my assh*le cleanly and regularly on command -- gently, and keep me smelling so wonderfully that I will like myself even in the condition of helplessness I shall be reduced to in old age and in sickness.

And if I don't like anyone of these people, I will throw them out and there are several waiting in line to take their places, because the pay is so good that they will want to wipe my assh*le than go to the US to wipe American assh*les.

At present I cannot yet be sure of this kind of personal attention and care.

About my two kids, I will never worry about and bother to provide for their future, after I shall have given them the best education that my money could buy and they can qualify for, take advantage of, and also given them and still give them good guidelines for life and work and marriage and happiness which I am also dispensing here now and then.

If they cannot still get along pretty well in their own lives, then they don't deserve either from or both from their efforts (they then are to blame) or from luck (just too bad for them -- but remember luck will favor you if you put in the efforts).

No, I am not being funny.
