Mula sa Social Security Act of 1997 (R.A. 8282):

SEC. 8. Terms Defined.

...

(m) Average monthly salary credit - The result obtained by dividing the sum of the last sixty (60) monthly salary credits immediately preceding the semester of contingency by sixty (60), or the result obtained by dividing the sum of all the monthly salary credits paid prior to the semester of contingency by the number of monthly contributions paid in the same period, whichever is greater: Provided, That the injury or sickness which caused the disability shall be deemed as the permanent disability for the purpose of computing the average monthly salary credit.

...

(q) Credited years of service - For a member covered prior to January nineteen hundred and eighty five (1985) minus the calendar year of coverage plus the number of calendar years in which six (6) or more contributions have been paid from January nineteen hundred and eighty five (1985) up to the calendar year containing the semester prior to the contingency. For a member covered in or after January nineteen hundred and eighty five (1985), the number of calendar years in which six (6) or more contributions have been paid from the year of coverage up to the calendar year containing the semester prior to the contingency: Provided, That the Commission may provide for a different number of contributions in a calendar year for it to be considered as a credited year of service.

...

SEC. 12. Monthly Pension. - (a) The monthly pension shall be the highest of the following amounts:

(1) The sum of the following:

(i) Three hundred pesos (P300.00; plus

(ii) Twenty percent (20%) of the average monthly salary credit; plus

(iii) Two percent (2%) of the average monthly salary credit for each credited year of service in excess of ten (10) years; or

(2) Forth percent (40%) of the average monthly salary credit; or

(3) One thousand pesos (P1,000.00): Provided, That the monthly pension shall in no case be paid for an aggregate amount of less than sixty (60) months.

(b) Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, the minimum pension shall be One thousand two hundred pesos (P1,200.00) for members with at least ten (10) credited years of service and Two thousand four hundred pesos (P2,400.00) for those with twenty (20) credited years of service.

Mula sa www.gov.ph:

How much monthly pension will a retiree receive?
The monthly pension will be the highest of:

   1. the sum of P300 plus 20 per cent of the average monthly salary credit plus two per cent of the average monthly salary credit for each credited year of service in excess of 10 years; or
   2. 40 per cent of the average monthly salary credit; or
   3. P1,200, provided, that the monthly pension is paid for not less than 60 months.

The lowest monthly pension is P1,200 if the member has 120 monthly contributions; P2,400 if he has at least 20 credited years of service.

A retiree has the option to receive his first 18 monthly pensions in lump sum discounted at a preferential rate of interest to be determined by the SSS. The option should be exercised upon filing of the first retirement claim. Only advance payments shall be discounted on the date of payment. The dependents' and 13th month pensions are excluded from the 18-months lump sum pension.

Should there be an increase in the monthly pension within the 18-month period, the discounted interest rate will be applied.

The member will receive his monthly pension on the 19th month.

The advanced amount will be deducted from future pensions.

is it true that if you opt to get your monthly pension when you retire, you no longer have disability benefits? eto ksi ang sabi ng ate ng partner ko na sobrang dugas nung naaksidente ang tatay nila 2 months ago, 2 months nang coma. i have this suspicion that she's keeping the money all to herself.

Just to clarify, your partner's dad is already receiving his retirement pension and your question is whether or not he's still qualified to receive disability benefits?

todjikid, good question. :)

maria and arts24, bawal nga.

Quote
What happens when the retirement pensioner resumes employment?

The monthly pension of a retirement pensioner who resumes employment and is less than 65 years old will be suspended. He and his employer will again be subject to compulsory coverage.

Again, take note, that is if maria's uncle is younger than 65.

Quote
Who may qualify for a retirement benefit?

A member who is 60 years old and unemployed and has paid at least 120 monthly contributions prior to the semester of retirement.

A member who is 65 years old, whether employed or not. If employed he should have paid 120 monthly contributions prior to the semester of retirement, whether employed or not.

ekimonk, maliit talaga pero hindi necessarily 2,400. Depende sa income bracket at number of contributions.

yun na naman plah.. hinde pa palah retired ang member akala ko retired nah.. hindi pa palah naka abot ng 65.. si maria talaga oo.. hindi sinabi if dis ability retirement or optional retirement, o kaya force retirement at the age of 60-65, but in the case of the child if the child is below 21 y.o. stil there is a pension for the child..

dahil nag business ang uncle mo mag self employed na lamang para continue ang contribution, i think mas malaki ang makukuha nya sa pension niya pag umaabot sya ng force retirement if completo ang remittance nya..  :D

question lang mga bro,

naka-coma kasi ngayon ang tito ko and we found a couple of SSS checks that haven't been encashed dating 2004. It has PNB as its bank. would it still be valid if we go to PNB and have it encashed since my uncle could is still unconscious (3 months running) or can we have it deposited to any bank. We fear that it might bounce. Valid pa rin ba ang checks even after more than3 years? Can we process it on his behalf?
