If you are planning to invest via EIP, in my opinion there is no reason to time the market. You will only be wasting time. But if your'e planning to invest big amounts (ex. 500k) in one buying, it is advisable to wait when the price is low.

P.S: Been on Eip for 1 year now.

For all of us newbies and are interested on investing in BDO's UITF, i am not sure if all or most of the branches will hold their product orientation about this, but my branch at Quirino Taft invited me on the 25th for a presentation, so if anyone who are near this branch you can drop by on that day, but for the meantime, backread muna ako dito :)

I just saw this post and I haven't actually read the entire discussion. I would just like to ask what is the advantages of UITF compared to stock trading ? Mas madali bang i-manage and UITF compared to having an account in COL for stock trading? Thanks in advance.

^ UITF - you hired a fund manager that will take of investing for you.  if you do not know anything about stocks and you have no time to learn it yourself, just get a UITF balance fund or equity fund depending on your risk appetite.

@bauer, thanks po. mukhag maganda ito para sa akin na newbie pa lang sa investments. Does it mean that the risks will be lower in UITF compared to stocks since there is fund manager? Is it a good time to purchase UITF now? Thanks again.

@Mumay, the fund manager may be wrong or correct...

But as the saying goes, there's no "perfect timing" to invest.  If you are really Ready and Equipped with the knowledge of the investment products offered, you alone can decide of the question "when will i start?"....

Maybe the fund manager is speaking of UITF equity fund (most invested in Stock Market).  But how about the Peso Fixed Income Fund (PFIF- very minimal in stocks less than 10%) or Balanced Fund (50% invested in stocks)?  These are somehow independent on stock market condition.  :watchuthink:

SIr lahat ng UITF products dniscuss ni manager problem is nsa peak daw ang mga ito...minomonitor ko ung stocks nya sa market lahat ng UITF Products ng BDO...I guess pag aaralan ko muna mabuti will im waiting...Thanks for your response...

sir bat naging prob eh nasa peak naman pala, mamroblema siya pagpababa lahat, kasi pagpababa ang stock wala me alam kung kailan tataas ulit..talaga pagsauna eh unrealize loss agad yan,but as time goes on at nag.iinvest ka lagi magkakaroon din ng unrealize gain yan

As per my last month's analysis BDO's funds are doing well. If you're already an investor a value "peak" is good news. However if mag-iinvest ka palang, the problem is determining if it will still go down a few points or if this is really the peak?

Like historically for a time-period, 8 is the "peak". If you're willing to wait for it to go down to 7 or 6, you must also be willing to risk the opportunity if this will still fly to 9, 10, 11 etc.

Besides 30 days lang ang minimum holding period for a BDO fund, madali lang ilabas ang funds.

^ hindi po pwede basta lagay na lang ng lagay or parang blind investing.
hindi po lahat sineswerte. actually mas marami ang nalulugi.
may cycle yan -- hindi lagi maganda ang investment climate. gaya nung last year, it was extraordinary.

hangga't maari, mapag-aralan ang investments at makapag invest at the 'right time'
regardless kung piso, P10,000 or P1M ang iinvest, dapat may basehan/napag-aralan

If your'e on EIP it is impossible to time the market since naka scheduled na mag iinvest ka on a fixed date every month.

me naman, plan ko to try EIP kasi overseas ako which makes it impossible to place investment while i'm here abroad. dahil kasi wala pa silang online facility like that of BPI's na pwede mag-enroll online, send the orig required forms by courier tapos magkakaroon ka na ng account. subscription then you can do online.

Tama naman kayo lahat. Let's just categorize the advise:

1. If your investing via the EIP, start now. In the long run, it won't matter even if the market is high right now.

2. If your investing in a lumpsum, you might want to monitor the market this month of August. They say in the stock market that August is typically a low month, so it would be a good time to invest. But here's the question: When would you know that the "low" is reached already and it is time to invest? I think the manager at BDO was just trying to cover his a*s since if he allowed you to invest then the market went down, you might go back and blame him.
