Naeenganyo naman ako mag open ng UITF. Mas ok ba kung mag open ako for long term? lets say 5 yrs?

The longer you keep your money there, the better. I experienced loosing half  the value of my money in BDO (Balanced Fund) during the 2008 stock market debacle. To a regular working family man that amount was significant already that time dahil savings namin eto. Yung mga ka trabaho ko they pulled out theirs kahit lugi pero I just kept my money as I honestly dont need it that time dahil may trabaho naman ako. Now nang bumawi ang market, I am getting 33% more and hopefully this will still grow.

Just ensure you will not need the money during this period (5 years as you said).

Basta di mo naman kailangan ng pera basta uitf mas ok pag long term...last May 17 nag add ako ng funds @307.7 yata per share ngaun almost 320 na... pero mabilis din naman yata kung gusto mo mgpullout..pero ako since ng start ako january 2012 ginagawa ko lng parang piggy bank,di ko pa na try mg pullout...hanggang maganda stocks maganda din uitf...uitf a lot more better than bank deposits..

PMT'ers,

ask ko lang if pwede ako mag-top-up through online banking.
salamat.

The last time i went sa pinas tinanong ko to sa bdo, sayang that day dayoff daw ung marketing officer, kaya ang nakausap ko parang assistant yata,di nila cgurado kung pede sa online banking magtopup e..pero mukhang pede,di ko pa nga lng natatry..hehehe..naka eip po ako very month...pero pag eexperimentuhan ko..pag pede il let you know...

Yung Daily Net Asset Values Per Unit (NAVPU) ng BDO can be monitored daily. Normally by 9 pm eh nag update na ang BDO, if not the following day sure yun. Here's the link:

Hi guys, so I went to BDO, Tiendesitas Branch, and thankfully may alam naman yung teller doon, since meron din syang UITF. Ready na kasi ako magdeposit ng minimum, pero sabi nya bumalik daw ako on Friday, baka bumaba pa yung NAVPU noon. Anyway, hindi ko masyado nagets, pero fine.

And then I also asked her, paano magtop up, ayoko kasi  ng automatic feature ng EIP. Sabi  nya, you can't top up lang na tig 1K. Parang you have to withdraw the whole UITF and then magdagdag ka tapos ideposit ulit. Parang ganun yung pagkakaintindi ko. So parang, huh? Tama ba yung pagkakaintindi ko or totally off? Haha.

@pilgrimpanda

Nung nag start ako gusto ko din na pwede ako mag top-up once in a while (tuwing may extra cash)

So ang ginawa ko I opened 2 accounts. :p

@Mumay, the fund manager may be wrong or correct...

But as the saying goes, there's no "perfect timing" to invest.  If you are really Ready and Equipped with the knowledge of the investment products offered, you alone can decide of the question "when will i start?"....

Maybe the fund manager is speaking of UITF equity fund (most invested in Stock Market).  But how about the Peso Fixed Income Fund (PFIF- very minimal in stocks less than 10%) or Balanced Fund (50% invested in stocks)?  These are somehow independent on stock market condition.  :watchuthink:
