Hi Everyone, I'm just wondering what are the possible effects of the pending increase in the interest rates on a peso bond fund? Does it mean, it is not the good time to invest in this kind of UITF? I understand that as the effective interest rate increases the FMV of your bonds (discounted value using EIM) will decrease.. Will this result to sudden drop in the value or this has already affected the price of the fund due to the negative sentiment (low demand)?

First, I thank the moderator/owner/creator

of this forum that it's such a huge help for me for investing my hard earned pay.

I started investing since late last year and have been regularly adding monthly investment for BDO-UITF, FAMI and Philequity. I found that the first quarter of the year ay mababa ang per share/unit. My question is, is there an or what is the effect of present crisis in the middle east, the cost of oil is rising up on the mutual fund, UITF? Is there any expectation we need to know as investor?

technically speaking there is NO DIRECT correlation between your UITF and MF investment on the middle east crisis or cost of oil in the world market.

your UITF and MF are investment made on selected companies (stocks), bonds and other financial instruments decided by fund managers. However, those UITF and MF holdings are being traded everyday in the market (stock & bond exchanges) and those markets are GREATLY INFLUENCED by political, economic, environmental, social news and issues both domestic and international.

indirectly you are investing sa PSE through MF/UITF (if equity). Likewise all investments are affected by macro economic situation even savings deposits.

I think, we better hurry to dive in now, the uptrend may start soon. =)
The market shed some points today but I am still optimistic and based on my opinion and research, we must still invest this 2011.

Yeah,I too have not found any logical pattern of posts in this forum.No one has even exactly answer the right time to Invest.I think that Mutual Funds don't Involve heavy Investment and I think where other business Involves plenty of risk this is still a quite safe place to Invest your money.

for newbies who does not know (maybe know a little) for stocks trading they go for mutual funds,,, someone who will invest their money on their behalf,,, that is if you are willing to have someone (in this case a mutual fund company) run your money on your behalf,,, method of diversification na rin sort of kasi your money is invested in a number of different portfolios,,,

regarding the best time to invest, no one could really tell nor they do have the exact formula when it will happen, sa tingin ko purely forecasts/speculation lang ang meron but not one that's just done on a flick of a finger,,, may analysisi na involved,,, kung pababa ang market, no one could really tell kung na-reach na ba yung bottomost part, and vice versa naman kung pataas ang market (so, you can cash in),,, for me, kung krisis, invest,,, just have it there for quite some time,,, after all kung panulusok man ang market, there's no way but going up,,,

You want to know the EXACT TIME?

Nobody knows what is the exact time, even the best names of Wall Street (unless they know the future - like a prophet).

Kung meron dito na nakakaalam ng exact time, di sana yumaman na siya ng todo-todo.

But we can only speculate with some level of accuracy based on history, statistics and current news...

@rds, exactly! eh di isang buhos nang investment sana di ba kung alam mong bottommost na siya at alam mong aarangkada in the coming days,,,, hehehe,,, sorry, no pun intended,,, one thing, kaya nga merong risk apetite test na tinatawag,,, if you think you cant sleep at nights worrying that you will lose certain percentage of your money then such type of investments are not for you,,, just my 2 cents,,,

Invest now before you spend your money in other stuff. Investment naman ito hindi speculating. If ever my differences in the NAVPU its not that significant in the long run unless kung nagkaroon talaga ng significant drop ng NAVPU as what happened in 2008.
