pano ka yayaman sa stocks?
« on: Aug 03, 2012, 02:21 PM »
hello!

i'm a fresh graduate at wala pa akong naisip na trabaho ngayun. im also interested in the stock market since a lot of people gain a great profit from it. I just have a question on how will you get rich from investing in stocks. do you hold on to it for a long time? and how do you start? i've already read a lot of articles and discussions pero mahirap po intindihin.

thank you!

Fresh graduate of what po?

Anyway, I know nakaka-engganyo mag stocks, from outside looking in. Check out yung newbie stock trading discussion dito sa PMT and recommended reading materials, enjoy. :)

Edit: How do you get rich in stocks?

1. Price

- ex: nabili mo ang 1 share = 1 peso. You bought 10,000 shares.
--> 10,000 shares x 1 peso = 10,000 pesos

After 1 year, 1.75 pesos na ang price per share. Your 10,000 pesos becomes 17,500 pesos.
--> 10,000 shares x 1.75 pesos = 17, 500 pesos

2. Dividend

ex: For every 1,000 shares of a company you have, they (the company) will be giving 0.50 cents or a new equivalent stock.

I guess yan muna ang explanation? :)

Follow kiyosaki's advice and leverage with other people's money. You won't get rich otherwise even if you had 100% accuracy rate on making bets.

As far as stock-picking is concerned, you profit heavily from both price appreciation and dividends, which in turn draw from the cost of acquistion and the company's future performance.

Its good to know meron na naman isang tao na nagkaroon ng interes sa stock market. Hindi madali ang stock market lalo na kung baguhan ka pa pero lahat naman ay nag umpisa sa first step and when is it good to start kung hindi ngayon.

Kumikita ka sa stocks tru price appreciation and dividends. Marami na ngayon mga online broker and you can open an account kahit 5K lang so hindi naman siguro masyado malaki yan if magkakamili ka sa pagpili ng stocks. Siguro start ka rin sa mga blue chips para d gaano masakit if the price will go down. Its good that you have read a lot of articles and discussions pero iba pa rin kung andon ka na mismo sa arena :)

a perfect example of price appreciation is Tanduay Holdings Inc. Ang dami yumaman dyan for sure, almost 100% gain for 2 consecutive days.

From an 'Insider newsletter' na nabasa ko dati, rarely ang nagiging mayaman sa stocks unless we invest consistently, choose a winner and big amount.

Typical example, would we think 5k or 10k invested there will make you 1M? Do we think its 'mathematically possible', as per this newsletter i read?

What about 10k's regularly till makapondo ka ng 100k? 500k? 900k?

One more thing, those blue chip stocks of the 80's or 90's.. sila pa rin ba ang stellar performer of these times?

Follow kiyosaki's advice and leverage with other people's money. You won't get rich otherwise even if you had 100% accuracy rate on making bets.

Hindi ba ang biggest winners sa stocks are those owners who put their company in public.

If we think what happen to FB IPO.. Nalugi ba sina Mark Zuckerberg even if their stocks stumble from $38 to $21? dati wala silang paper assets, but by leveraging from others people money, he was able to amass big amout of wealth kahit asa $21 na yung Fb stocks.. di ba ganun yun?

Hi TSO, what do you mean by this? Kindly expound? :)

Get investments from other people and invest for them. Charge a management fee while you're at it. You will need at least 18M to turn this into a business you can live off of (2% Mgt Fee per year). GETTING that 18M is a whole different story and relies on a sound investment process, a solid track record, and a very strong network of friends with money.

US: Google, Apple, Microsoft, Walmart, AT&T, etc.
Philippines: EDC, Manila Water, Filinvest, etc.

How do you think Zuckerberg GOT Facebook up and running in the first place? He himself found investors willing to fund the initiative that would later become facebook. Only through its success and marketing hype was he able to rape the retail investors and rake lots of moolah, selling shares of FB that doesn't even represent real ownership in the company.

My point there was, you can quit your day job when you can make at least PHP10,000 a month in cash flows alone. That's P120K and under a 3% dividend yield (which is low for our country but high for the USA), you need at least PHP4 million in the market. You CANNOT get this unless you have rich backers or an inheritance or you won the lottery AND SOMEHOW RESISTED YOUR "NEW FRIENDS". The only other way you can get this is by approaching rich bitches or institutional investors and presenting your philosophy and YOUR track record, and even then, you cannot charge them more than 2% in management fees a year because that's the industry norm and you're essentially going to drive yourself out of business.

So for sake of further discussion parang 2 pa lang option para yumaman.

1. Open up a fund and charge an annual management fee
2. Launch your company on stock market, your company's paper cert in exchange for investors money

Pano na lang retail investor sa stocks, na who want to be self reliant, at gusto magsunog ng kilay at maglagas ng buhok sa FA/TA of their stocks, me big chance ba talaga yumaman?

I don't understand how #2 nets you money. It just makes you RICHER. You forget, the very fact that you're taking a company public generally means you're making well enough money to have the underwriters AGREE on giving you their business.

In other words, there are only three ways to get rich:
1. Invest other people's money (by starting an investment firm or an investment club) and earn from the fees.
2. Accumulate at least PHP 4 million with your savings and monthly salary and begin investing.
3. Start a business.

That's it.

The problem with stocks is that everything is %-based. Trading can only help you make some additional money, but it won't be enough to REALLY make you financially free for years and years on end. (Ferrari_Everest might disagree with me on this) Same for real estate; you need enormous capital to own a real estate property that can generate the cash flows to keep you away from a full-time job.

Point is, in a percentage-business, you can never be financially free without the capital.

What about an "absolute numbers" business, e.g. buy and sell and stuff. Well, first of all, you need capital. Second, you need a strategy. Third, you need to IMPLEMENT this strategy. The business becomes a full-time job in itself, and you aren't exactly "financially free" unless you transition from manager/sole proprietor to an owner.

a. every month ako may makukuha or every year
b. makakakuha lng ako ng income kapag hold ko ang share for a long time tapos ibinenta ko ang mga shares kung mataas na ang value nila

If you trade, you might get money frequently pero pwede rin masunog frequently. If you invest (long term), there is a greater chance na yayaman ka pero not immediate kasi nga long term (i.e 10 years).

Specially if they follow a good money management.

If you want to be a long term investor, you have to do due dilligence in the company you are investing. Make sure that you know its products and business. You should be aware of macro economics too. Know what external factors that affects the business.

If you want to be a trader, i suggest is to acquire the discipline first then money will surely follow.
