The acronym HYIP stands for High Yield Investment Programs. These are schemes that offer astounding returns for minimal amounts "invested." Eventually, they fold up since they don't generate income from any kind of business activity but simply pay members from the funds collected from other "investors" (google "Ponzi" for a more detailed explanation).
I took a look at the power-point presentation of Juan Hundred and found out that they do have products being offered (e-books). Kaya lang, parang these were added on almost like an after-thought. Mas highlighted 'yung concept ng pagkita ng malaki from one's network of referrals.
It's sad but HYIPs thrive because people tend to be forgetful, naive, desperate, or greedy. I'm sure we won't see the end of them anytime soon.
